Overview & Reviews
Front lumbar supports and automatic climate control are now standard on all models, while the 4.4i gets standard park distance control. The optional auto-dimming rearview mirror now includes a digital compass. High-gloss dark wood trim is standard on the 3.0i and replaces high-gloss light wood trim as standard on the 4.4i. Anthracite wood trim and high-gloss light wood trim are available at no extra charge.
- Rides and drives like a BMW sedan, multiple drivetrain choices, top safety scores, high-end cabin furnishings.
- Not much cargo space, lousy fuel economy for a car-based SUV, expensive option packages.

this car saved my life - 2005 BMW X5
By poopsie - February 4 - 1:24 pmI live north of Toronto, Canada, a very icy winter day, I had to take a detour and went down a snowy, icy hill directly into the path of a mercedes turned sideways, the BMW X5, used its threshhold braking to stop the vehicle without sliding miraculously I just drove around the mercedes like nothing happened. I love this SUV!! It looks great too!!

Best handling SUV - 2005 BMW X5
By asl - January 10 - 1:52 amThis is my 4th BMW and by far the best. Great handling and acceleration. Ride is quiet but firm with 19" wheels and sport package. The great reason for buying a BMW. Interior looks clean and classy. I recommend the comfort seat option for the softer leather feel and support. Its expensive but so are other SUVs in this class.

My 2nd X5 - 2005 BMW X5
By Joan Dibble - January 6 - 3:31 amIve now owned 2 of these wonderful SUVs back to back. I cant begin to tell you how safe and comfortable I feel when driving. The V8 gives me the power to get moving. Ive owned only one other car I was this crazy about and it was a 1977 630 BMW. I drove it for 12 years and put 228,000 miles on it. I guess Im just a big fan of Bimmers.

Great X5 - 2005 BMW X5
By Boulevard West - January 6 - 12:29 amGot the X5 just before Christmas, one week later the biggest snow storm in 12 years hit. In 30hrs we had 29 inches of snow. Not much was moving, but the X5 with all season tires plowed through the snow like a hot knife through butter. In the past 26 years in the Sierra Nevadas I have driven most types of 4x4s, and the X5 beats them all. More snow is on the way. I wonder what it would do with a good set of snow tires!

BKR review - 2005 BMW X5
By Brian - January 5 - 10:45 pmFirst 1000 miles was in the terrible winter storms in Ohio over Christmas...this car was the "ultimate driving machine"! I love this car so far. Love the sound of the engine when I accelerate...and it does accelerate. The defroster is a blast furnace though. Wish it had a fan control. The cargo space is not that big...but I was not looking for much more. Really nothing but praise so far. The car really handles well and I love all the options.....although it took me an hour to learn everything. Would definitely recommend it if you are looking for an SUV with sports car feeling.

AVERAGE BMW - 2005 BMW X5
By sclavette - January 5 - 10:33 pmBMW continues not understanding electronics. Problems with GPS, power locks, rear window washer, etc. BMW still only gives cassette option at dash. No wonder their sales are dropping. Third and last BMW.
