This Year's Model Updates:

A six-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) transmission is now optional on select 3 Series models, while a five-speed Steptronic automatic is now offered with the 330i Performance Package. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and hands-free wireless cell phone capability are now standard features on the sedan and wagon. There are new alloy wheel designs for the 325i, 325xi and 330xi Sport Package. All 330i sedans get a revised grille -- a new black grille instead of silver, with a lower grille combination of body color and black. All 3 Series coupes and convertibles receive a revised front fascia, plus new front and rear bumper contours, Adaptive headlamps and taillights and new designs for both the standard and optional wheels. Interior changes are limited to a revised climate control panel. Finally, Sirius Satellite Radio is now available as an accessory on all 3 Series models.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners
Cons:
  • Pricey for its market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • Great car, wish it had better mpg - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I have owned my 325i for 4 months now and so far I love the car. The only thing I am disappointed with so far is the fuel economy. I drive about 40 miles a day. Of that about 60% is highway and I get a average of 21-23 MPG. I tried changing driving habit and maintaining tire pressure and all I get is 24 mpg tops.

This is my second BMW, after purchasing the 330Ci coupe last year. I traded the coupe in on the 330Ci convertible. This car feels like its worth the $49,000 MSRP. I am a car enthusiast, but even I used to wonder what all the hoopla was about with BMWs... After living with the 04 coupe and now this convertible, I understand! They are truly fabulous automobiles! They are so fun to drive, yet so smooth and so luxurious all at once!

Love to accelerate this one, when it throws your back into the seat. Great roadholding

  • why to complaint - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Best car ever, fun to drive, don;t put attention to all those comments about window rregulators, and not well funded complaints. Botton line If youve got the bucks this is the way to go.

  • outstanding performance - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Excellent build and finish. 330xi is glued to the road. Much better than Audi A4, Jag X type. You must drive this machine...tight, agile. Worth the money? You live once folks, go for it. And I have children who fit in the back Edmunds does not list 330 xi as a style

  • Delightful driving with the wind blowing - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Second BMW 330 ragtop owned. Delightful to drive but has two weaknesses. Underpowered even with the 225 HP six and engine sound is so flat you feel you are in a Yugo. Missing the muscular engine of previous 3 series. Has some body roll but is very tight for a convertible. Well built, few problems within first six months of ownership. Upgraded 18" wheels are beautiful and get compliments wherever I drive. Little wind noise at high speeds.

  • In a Class All Its Own! - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Love this car! Period!! Is it the fastest? No. Is it the most attractive? No. Is it inexpensive? No. Is it the most luxurious? No. Thats a lot of nos, yes? Ah, but wait! Is the 3 Series the most overall well-balanced, interactive, inutuitive, and fun car to drive? Resoundingly, yes! Ive owned a lot of cars over the years an Acura TL, Audi A4, BMW Z4, Honda Accords, Ford Mustang, Toyota Camry, Lexus SC400, and Mini Cooper, and they all do at least one thing very well, maybe even best in class! But overall, the sum of their parts only equal their total. Remarkably, with the 3 Series, its total exceeds the sum of its parts. But you wont find it on paper. You have to drive it to know it.

  • Awesome - 2004 BMW 3-Series

This is my third 3 series BMW. Still have a 95 325iC for summer, had a 00 328i, but the 04 325xi is by far the best. Handling, comfort, performance - nothing can beat a BMW. Awesome car.

  • Awesome vehicle! - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I test drove Lexus, Infiniti, VW, Nissan, and Mazda before making my decision, and the BMW 325 was by FAR the absolute best performer of all! It is the tightest, most stable car I have ever driven! It corners like its on rails, and the big Inline 6 has a ton of torque! Test drive one and you will see! I HIGHLY recommend you get the sport package as well, as it makes a big difference.

  • Best car ever owned - 2004 BMW 3-Series

This car was the car of my dreams before I leased it and remains that still. Other convertibles I have owned are noisy. Not this one. The top is a thick cloth material that not only keeps the noise down, but also helps contain the interior climate. In the desert, a convertible can lose air conditioning quickly. This one cools down fast and stays cool. And the convertible mechanics - the way the top folds down -- are just plain fun to watch. It handles like a dream. It has great acceleration. And it has fairly good trunk space for a convertible.
