This Year's Model Updates:

The Cabriolet is now available with all-wheel drive, while all A4s now come standard with a tire-pressure monitoring system, revised steering wheels and two-stage airbags. The 1.8T models have been upgraded with 16-inch aluminum wheels and now offer a six-speed manual transmission as an option.

Pros:
  • Classy, well-constructed interiors, sharp handling, precise steering, available CVT transmission and all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • Price goes up quickly with options, engines short on low-end torque, sport package makes for a choppy ride.

The is fun to drive. There is some low end turbo lag. Fit and finish is excellent. Handles well.

  • Classy but fun - 2004 Audi A4

Love this car! Have been driving this car since July 2002 and have not had any problems. The fit and finish is world class and the "fun factor" is nothing less. Overall ride is very comfortable while maintaining its sportiness. The safety features were key when purchasing this car but have since been forgotten as this is such a great car to drive. Usually dislike taking cars into service, however, Audi seems to go out of their way to make things just right for the owner/ driver. Fantastic customer service. I would highly recommend Audi.

I think the car will be fun to drive but since I had an accident on day 2 of ownership, I dont know yet. It will soon be three months and the availability of spare parts is keeping me from enjoying the car. Unfortunately, Audi spare parts are either unavailable or marked improperly when orderd. My repair shop classifies Audi as the worst in terms of difficulty in getting the right parts in a timely manner. Audi may be a world class car but they apparently have a third world supply chain!

There are few thing that could be done to improve this vehicle. It is eight grand cheaper than an equivialant BMW. Both the A4 3.0 quattro and BMW 330xi are great cars, but the eight grand is more enjoyable in my pocket than the dealers. Service is first-rate.

The cars 1.8liter and 4 cylinder engine with a 170HP sound worse than the actual performance that comes out. I previously owned a Nissan Maxima 6 cylinder and the audi from 0 to 60 leaves the maxima in the dust. However, the car reaches higher rpms much faster and begs the driver for quick shifting. The handling is excellent, however after 6 months with the car, the front struts and axls are creeky. In addition, the car has begun to make louder idle noises. The maxima is as quiet as a pussycat. Overall, it is difficult to compare the two being in different categories and the sacrifices that I made switching to a smaller car (interior is small).

  • Got a lemon - 2004 Audi A4

Since I purchased my convertible in a matter of the first year within 7 months I had the transmission replaced 3 times. Recently the oil pump malfuctioned and the engine blew. 2 days later the radiator hose went. 3 weeks later the engine lost power. This car has been in the shop at least 25-30 times in the past 3 years for various things. I finally hired and attorney and used the lemon law which was successful monetarialy but had to keep the car the rest of the lease which is up in 2 months!!! Thank god!! I love the looks of the car but mine was NOT worth the trouble. I have a convertible and cannot use it most of the time as it is always in the shop. Good LK

As I buy cars for 5-10 years of ownership, I did not want to have a turbo to maintain... and I appreciated the extra power and smoothness of the 3.0 six. Car is incredibly well-suited to long highway stints as well as carving up twisty roads. And it handles city living (and horrible city roads here in Washington, DC) with aplomb. AND when it snows and the city doesnt plow our street we just get in our all- wheel-drive Audi and drive out!!! The warranty and free maintanence --as well as great dealer-- make this a great ownership experience. Very pleased.

Fun car to drive and handles well. Audi and VW can capture drivers on the appearance and handling alone.

My father got me the Cabriolet for my birthday and its been a joy to have. The triple layer top allows me to drive it in the winter, but its a summer made car. Both sports and luxurious, its a great car to have as a teenager. Its safe and fuel efficient. Needless to say, Im usually the designated driver. The only downside is the cupholders, one on the dash and the other inside the armrest, both are inconvient to access.
