Their service department is TERRIBLE TERRIBLE BAD!!! save yourself time and money and go to a different dealer if you need service on your Hyundai, I made an appointment to install rain guards (which I purchased) on my Genesis which should take about 30 minutes to complete, my appointment was for 10:30, I show up and give my information to Kevin who said that it should be done in about an hour max 2 hours, I said I cant wait 2 hours Ill go to work in Brooklyn and please call me once its ready and Ill pick it up, he said they are only open today till 4:30 so I should come before that, I said ok call me once its ready Ill come right away, so according to him it shouldre been ready by latest 12:30 -1:00, at 3:15 I havent received any calls, I called Kevin only to find out its not done yet and that they are working on it right now, it will be done by 4:00-4:30, I should be there before 4:30 because after that they are closed, I show up at 4:30 and wait for Kevin 15 minutes finally he shows up and the manager comes telling me its not done yet and will only be done later tonight, I said but I need my car now, he says Im sorry but it can not be done, so I told Kevin bring me my car and let me get the hell out of here, he went to bring my car only to come back that they are working on it right now and will be done in 10 minutes, after waiting another 25 minutes he brings me the car and of course its NOT done because he thought he can do it in 10 minutes but it will actually take an hour, WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, meanwhile Im out over $50 for Uber back and forth from work and 3 hours travel and waiting time and I still the job that should only take 30 minutes is still not done (remember I made an appointment for this for 10:30 I didnt just walk in) and I have to go to another dealer to get it installed, SAVE YOUR SELF TIME AND MONEY AND DO NOT USE THEM FOR SERVICE!!!

I went in very skeptical about purchasing a new vehicle. However the sales man I had the pleasure of meeting (Travis.W.) did an outstanding job at explaining all of my car buying options. I went to Hyundai Long Island City because I thought itd be a slam dunk. My wifes car had just died on her, we were in a financial bind, and we needed a quick fix. I thought of Hyundai Long Island City because we had once purchased a car there and had a decent experience. So we went in knowing exactly what car we wanted, exactly what it would cost, and prepared to pay exactly that and leave. Instead, we had a sales rep spend two hours doing a hard sell on my wife and I trying to get us to LEASE. I do not want to lease. It doesnt appeal to me. I made this clear over and over again. And the sales associate repeatedly kept telling me I was wrong for feeling this way. When I finally put my foot down about not wanting to lease, the manager (named GHANDI) came over and really aggressively pushed the LEASE option on us again. He essentially called me a fool for not taking him up on his "generous" offer. I- again- declined, opting to finance a car instead. By this time, things had gotten late and I was informed it was too late to start the paperwork on my car. They asked me to put down a $500 deposit to hold the transaction, then come back tomorrow to finish it. So thats what I did. On a credit card, I authorized a $500 deposit. Then things took a real turn. I came back the next night to finish the transaction and take, what I felt, was an arbitrary test drive. THANK GOD I DID THE TEST DRIVE! Right away, I heard something rattling in the rear of the car. The new sales associate kept telling me it was just the temporary license plate on the rear bumper. I made him remove it, and still the sound persisted. Lo and behold, the shop reported back that a stabilization bar was improperly installed and that theyd fix it immediately. By this point, I no longer wanted the car as its not a good omen when theres a mechanical issue during your TEST DRIVE. So I respectfully told them I was done with this transaction. I requested a refund. GHANDI came to me AGAIN with an offer to LEASE. I declined the offer for what felt like the 20th time. I was told to call the next day about my refund because- for whatever reason- they couldnt just swipe my card again and refund the money. It has now been 3 weeks, and I havent yet received my $500. First I was told that theyd mail me a check. Then I was told that theyd take my credit card info over the phone and authorize a refund. As it stands now, Im still waiting to hear back from GHANDI- who always seems to magically have "just stepped out" when I call. As I type this, Im on Hold. I called, once again, to get Ghandi on the phone and was once again told he was busy, but that if I left a message hed call me back. Why should I believe that? So I opted to wait on hold, and that was 22 minutes ago. That is some long phone call Ghandi is on. Never recommending these people to anyone. I ending up buying a car across the street, and was in and out within 3 hours, meanwhile Im waiting for my $500 refund for over 3 weeks now. Unbelievable.

Weve leased cars for the last 16 years and every 3-4 years we dread having to return the car and get a new one. Our current Tucson lease wasnt set to expire until February; however, we received an offer to upgrade sooner and immediately called to get the lease situation over with. I shopped around for an SUV with a third row for around 4 months. I was looking for a good deal because I had negative equity on my trade-in. I worked with so many dealers all over NY and the only dealer that treated me with respect and like a customer who mattered was Hyundai of Long Island City. After speaking to 2 different internet sales reps at Long Island city Hyundai we were assured that the car we were interested in was still available. In fact, we were told that someone else had been interested in it but they werent able to get his credit approved so they would take our deposit and apply it to the car to hold it for 3 days until we could drive there and get it. They quickly took our deposit. hours before we were to drive out there, we did receive a call that the car had actually been sold 30 days ago!!!! How did 2 different sales reps give us misinformation? thank goodness we had not made the drive. In the mean time other vehicles that we had been interested in were no longer available. Then to top things off, it took them over 2 weeks to issue us a refund for our deposit.. a deposit that they had no trouble processing in only 1 day to hold the car.

NEVER GOING BACK HERE!!! Needed a routine oil change, first they didnt have my appointment scheduled so I had to speak with the service manager who remembered me making the appointment. Then I needed the 30,000 routine maintenance but didnt have time to get it done so instead they charged me double for the oil change!!! My husband and I had a great experience when we were preparing to purchase our 2012 Hyundai Sonata in November 2013. We flew in from out of state, signed the papework and all was well. We were promised 2 items/parts that were not ready when we finished up the paperwork and were told that they would arrive at our home within approximately a week. We are now at the end of February 2014 and we have yet to receive the items and yet to receive tracking information. We are quite frustrated with the customer service weve received after our purchase. This is in addition to trying to iron out some other issues that surfaced with trying register our car in our state. It was a headache getting what we needed from this dealership!. Seems as though you need to have EVERYTHING ironed out before you sign any paperwork with these people. I went in with my car for servicing. I love my light green Hyundai Tuscan and had not plans to trade it in but.......David Rutkay, a salesman, approached me telling me I was perfect. Ive never heard that before and so was intrigued. When he said I could walk out today with a 2014 Tuscan I said "NO WAY!" But wanting to be perfectly polite I listened. David proceed to explain enthusiastically, clearly and patiently why it might benefit me to turn my car in for the 2014 version of the Tuscan. Jay, who I have learned to trust implicitly from the service division, joined us for a while. David spent hours, energetically, checking every detail of how to make this happen. I was efficiently set up to meet with Oscar to talk about financing. He was also very warm, friendly and patient, being sure that I understood fully the conditions of the financing. I met with the Allstate consultant who also quickly determined what my rates would be if I went with Allstate and advised me clearly in my best interest. What more can you ask for? You can see the reviews and can see this is one of the best dealerships in the country, but my specific situation goes much further beyond a 1-5 rating system. A week ago my car had major engine issues and was taken in to a different Hyundai dealership in queens New York. I was informed that my 2011 Sonata with 23K miles would need a new engine and would cost me $7,000 and would not be covered by insurance or the warranty. The "liaison" then could not accurately explain what was wrong. The whole situation seemed very "shady" to me. Luckily, I made the best decision of my life and called DAVID RUTKAY at LIC Hyundai. He has guided me at every step of this 2 week long process. He is always available, responds to text immediately and contacted me on his days off. The guy was a pleasure to work with. He instructed me to bring my busted Sonata to LIC ASAP. I next met JAY STRASSBERG, who I cannot give enough credit to for positively affecting my life and my finances. He inspected the car and discovered that the car should certainly be covered under the warranty and went to the trouble of calling up the ladder to Hyundai and making sure the car was covered (because it should have been). This paragraph does a very poor job in explaining the efforts and lengths Jay went to help me, I cannot thank him enough. Once David learned that my car was covered under warranty and that Jay made sure I didn’t have to come out of pocket for $7,000, and he Re-"Assuranced" my belief in the Hyundai brand, we explored the options of a new Sonata. I fell in love with a new 2014 Sonata and asked him to run some #s. DAVID RUTKAY looked me in the eye, shook my hand and told me he would get me the best deal he could. I was prepared for some negotiating, playing with #s and hours of back and forth (typical of Car Dealers). It took all of 5 minutes; I am the stingiest person you will meet. I will haggle over $20 ... but...there was nothing to negotiate. The #s David came with were LOWER than my bottom line. Hes not a "salesman", the guy is just a decent, nice guy. He does what he says hes going to do and just delivers. Im not just happy about the process, Im relieved, Im de-stressed and I am a Hyundai believer. This dealership is not just selling cars, in my opinion; they are changing the way that the public views traditional car dealerships. I went to visit LIC Hyundai to look at a used car advertised on cars.com. With all the positive customer reviews about this dealership, I thought these guys may be different. Same old same old. Sales guy has no clue about the car Im looking for. I show him the ad. He pecks away at the computer, and then takes it to his manager. Manager says, "Oh we sold that one yesterday. Is there something else we can interest you in?" Gimme a freakin break. These guys employ the same shady tactics to get customers into the showroom. I just left in disgust.

After having a miserable car shopping experience at Major World (the DMV of car dealerships), I thought I would go across the street and see what the Long Island City Hyundai dealership had to offer in pre-owned cars. First off let me say this review is about a month late so Im very sorry guys. I walked into this dealership and met David Rutkay who was the nicest, best looking and most professional car sales person I have ever met. Ive bought about 10 cars in my life, mostly in Queens, and he showed me what Integrity really means in this business. He was polite and well spoken and really knew his stuff. He literally showed me every single feature of the car, took me on a 15 min test drive, including driving on the grand central parkway, and then gave me about 10 options on how to purchase my vehicle. After we decided which way I was gonna go David brought me coffee and gave me access to his computer so I could search the web while he got to work getting my car ready to take home. David ran back and forth to service getting all of my motor vehicle stickers applied, making sure my car was washed, and had gas. I literally watched him run all over the dealership while his co workers sat there and "hung out" with each other. When my paper work was ready David introduced me to Oscar who brought me to his office and went over the contracts. Oscar was a true Gentleman which didnt surprise me because he mentioned he was Davids big brother. Every part of my day went smoothly. David and Oscar got me in and out of the place in under two hours. I highly recommend that if you are looking to buy a car go straight to long island city Hyundai and see David, make sure Oscar handles your contracts too! Thanks Guys!
