I purchased my Hyundai Tuscon in February 2010. Over the last 5 years, Salem Ford Hyundai has serviced my vehicle for every oil change required. On Saturday, Sept 19, 2015, I brought my vehicle in for a scheduled oil change and new windshield wipers and asked if it were also possible for them to do an inspection sticker. James Sheehey called me about 45 minutes after I had left the service department to inform me that they could not give me the inspection sticker since my back brakes required immediate attention. I was given a price of $540.00 dollars for brakes and rotors. I declined and told Jim that I had a mechanic that would do this service for less but thank you anyway. When I came back in to pick up the vehicle, Jim informed me, (in front of several other customers) in the waiting area that if I was taking the vehicle to my mechanic for the brake job that I could also inform my mechanic to change the air filter because it was filthy. I responded with, I’m sorry but this office has conducted every oil change since the initial purchase of the vehicle so why has this filthy air filter not been checked in the past and Mr. Sheehey responded with; “Since you’re taking your vehicle to your mechanic for the brake job, ask him to change the air filter”. Regardless of whether the air filter should be checked along with oil changes, it was never mentioned to me in any of my previous visits to Hyundai’s service station. I was never given an option as to whether changing filters should be checked at an additional charge. I would have gladly paid for anything extra. Mr. Sheehey was very unprofessional and gives me serious pause as to whether I would ever continue to do business with this dealership again in the future.

I felt I was misinformed and misled about a number of things during the buying process. First, when I was test driving the Ford Fiesta sedan on May 30, the salesperson mentioned the cash incentives were going to end the next day (end of the month). But, I checked Fords website afterwards and it was actually on July 7. I also asked about the extra charge for the Ruby Red Tinted Clearcoat color on the vehicle, and the salesperson explained that there is an extra charge for every color, eventhough Ford actually charges extra for only specific colors. I would have settled for a different color to avoid the extra charge. Also, the salesperson gave me a Sirius satellite brochure explaining how the vehicle came with a 6 month free trial period, but that was not true. The vehicle did not even have satellite radio equipped. Plus, I did not even get the complimentary Ford Sync Services subscription either that usually comes with purchase. Another thing is the salesperson said he would call me as soon as my vehicle was registered and the license plates were ready. He did not do that, so I had to call the next day to find out for myself. I paid an extra $80 for that service that I could have just done myself. So I feel I was deceived with this misinformation just so I would buy the vehicle. Being misled, I felt pressured that I would lose out on a great deal if I did not put a down payment immediately. But now I feel I only got an average price, not a good price for the car. Plus, a few weeks later, the cash incentive for the Fiesta increased and was $250 more than what I got, which I am not too happy about either. Furthermore, I really was not in a rush to purchase a vehicle and wanted to consider other models like the Ford Focus sedan, which has a wider cabin and its price is comparable to what I paid for the Fiesta. I did not have the chance to consider the Focus because the salesperson put a lot of pressure on me to buy the Fiesta. Plus, the dealership did not have the Focus sedan trim I wanted in stock at the time, but of course they do currently. And after driving the Fiesta more, I realize it does not have sufficient legroom and hiproom as I thought. The seats are quite smaller than I first noticed and do not provide much leg support. So my legs get sore and cramp up if I drive longer than about 15 minutes. I regret purchasing the Fiesta from this dealership. I am unhappy with the price I paid and the salesperson because he misinformed me. And what drives me crazy is the price of the Focus sedan at this dealership is about the same as what I paid for the Fiesta.

My wife owns a 2012 Hyundai Sante Fe. While driving on a busy road, the vehicle just stopped running. We made arrangements that afternoon to bring it to the Service Department. I goggled the problem and found that this has happened to others before, the cause didnt show up on a diagnostic check and the dealer service techs had to contact Hyundai for support. I told this to the lady at the service counter and she tried to make me look like an idiot for using Google to get information. She was very emphatic though to tell us that it would cost us $99 if they could not find anything. I reiterated, please contact Hyundai and she disregarded everything and anything I had to say. I asked her if there were any recalls on this vehicle because this is very much a safety issue that could result in death. She again made me feel like a jerk. This was my wifes safety I was talking about. This happened on a Thursday afternoon. We left the vehicle there over night and the next day, they called my wife and said it had something to do with the computer. They said it was under warranty and sent her on her way. One day later, Saturday Morning, the same thing happened but my wife was near Hampton Ford Hyundai. A tech was kind enough to help my wife. He didnt ask for money but this time, he called Hyundai and found that it was something to do with the Alternator. He worked on it for 3 hours, replaced the Alternator. The software update that Salem Ford Hyundai didnt take so he took care of that also. The experience at Hampton Ford Hyundai was great. The experience at Salem Ford Hyundai was terrible both on a personal level and a service level. The sad part is we bought the vehicle new from Salem Ford Hyundai. Guaranteed that will never happen again. Lesson Learned.

I’ve wanted a 4 door truck for as long as I can remember but I wasn’t ready to give up my trade vehicle until the last month or so. I started by first getting a pre-approval at a good rate from a local credit union and then scoured the typical car websites to search for possible matches. After looking at some different makes/models I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted. Luckily a local dealer had a truck that matched what I was looking for to a tee so I ventured over early on a Saturday morning to test drive the truck. When we pulled in, my wife, baby and I were immediately greeted by salesman Matt Pina. I explained what we were looking for and he went right to work getting the vehicle, showing us around the truck and talking over our needs. He helped us strap the car seat in the truck and off we went for a 10 minute test drive. He was very helpful showing us features of the truck without trying to push a sale down our throats He shared experience from other models he’s been in that helped us realize this was indeed the right model for us. I knew before heading to the dealer that I was pre-approved for a loan at a good rate and the minimum I had to get on a trade. I figured the minimum for my trade was a long shot but Matt was able to get me a fair offer that worked for our budget. Armando Rodriguez talked over the financing options and offered to try finding us a better rate. We were pretty firm on going with the credit union but he was able to work with them and get us a better rate at the same credit union. In addition, he pushed our online insurance company to get the correct details when he knew they gave me wrong information about the MA RMV forms. What a great service! I had no plans to leave with a truck when I went in that morning but I couldn’t be happier with how the morning went and I’m glad to finally own a truck that holds the whole family. Salem Ford has gained a customer and I’m planning to return to them for all of my service needs.

I just purchased a new Veloster and could not be happier with both the car and the way I was treated by the managers and sales staff. I didnt want to go over a certain price point and figured I would end up in a used Veloster but was extremely happy to find out I could buy brand new. All Im here to comment on is the fact that the showroom (i.e., the first and most lasting visual impression you provide your customer) is a complete disaster. Room for just two cars, with open sales desks around the outside - absolutely no privacy or room for comfortable negotiations. Or is that the point? Missing ceiling panels, ethernet cables hanging down from the ceiling, winding around the floor from desk to desk in a web of tangled cables just waiting to be tripped over. A huge (what appeared to be) bucket or small tree planter in the middle of the showroom floor collecting water dripping from an leaky pipe. I was asked if Id like a cup of coffee, but I would advise against putting anything from within these walls inside your body. Dusty old half-inflated balloons scattered around. Depressing. I know its just technically a Hyundai/Ford dealership, but yikes. Lets just say aesthetics are not priority #1. But it doesnt give me a real positive vibe. Not much of the profits are being reinvested in the customer experience - lets just leave it at that.

After going to several different dealerships in my area over the past few months, I went to Salem Ford to see what they could do to help get me out of my existing car and into a new one. From start to finish, I was very impressed and happy with my experience there. The salesman, Joel, was knowledgeable and helpful, without being at all pushy - that was great. He was also very friendly and gave my 8 year old things to keep her busy - very important to me being relaxed and getting things done! Joel and the sales manager Austin were upfront about what they could do, and they listened to what I needed and did what they could to make that happen. They were also pretty quick about the process, which was helpful. The whole atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed, it didnt feel like a skeevy, high-pressure, "sell sell sell!" car dealership. Signing the paperwork was a breeze too, and when I went back the next day to pick up my car with both my kids, even sales people who only saw me the day before were welcoming and saying hi to my girls (who made a bit of a mess, and were still made to feel "at home" so to speak. I absolutely recommend Salem Ford if you are looking for a car, new or used. I wish I had gone to them first!

I have to say the guys down there are great they do everything in there power to make you feel comfortable as well as they are honest and always up front about there pricing its nice to deal with a dealership who is not out to steal all your money from you. I have to say, this dealership does seem sneaky. My husband went up to check out a used vehicle they had listed on the internet to find out that they re posted their add for $1000 more and they were firm at their list price. Strange how one week the vehicle would be a price and then a few days later it would go up. There are a lot of vehicles out their to purchase, you would think that they wouldnt want a customer to walk out and buy somewhere else.

We saw a used car on the Internet that we liked. Called before hand to make sure they had the car. Made us wait about 30 minutes to test drive the car but we had to leave and we came back. Then we finally got to drive the car. We decided we wanted to buy the car and they did not honor the Internet price. They wanted $3000 more! Stay far away from this dealership. This was a scam! Do not buy from this place

Our family is in the market for a new car, and we fully intend to purchase one this week. We dislike haggling and the feeling of being cheated that is so often a feature of car buying. Therefore, we decided to make use of a car-buying service available to us. We were emailed three quotes from three different dealerships, and began communicating with the dealership offering the lowest price. We then received a phone call from Gina at Salem Ford and Hyundai, asking us about our inquiry. She seemed great at communicating with us, and she tracked down the car that we are planning to buy. We were delighted when she told us that she would be able to get it for us significantly cheaper than the quote from her competitor. Gina assured us that she had spoken to her manager, and even emailed us the numbers, which we printed out and brought with us when we went to the dealership, ready to put down cash and buy this car today. We arrived at the dealership and sat down with Joel, who looked at the numbers and talked to us about the process of purchasing our car. Then he went to talk to his manager. When he came back he was very sorry to tell us that there had been an unfortunate mistake and they actually were not going to honor the quote that we had been assured over the phone and through email was legitimate. He said he could, however, sell us the same car for a price thousands of dollars higher than our quote. The number that was offered to us at the dealership was close enough to the competitors price that we likely would have accepted it had it been offered up front in a straightforward way. The way in which this dealership chose to lure us in with a lower price, though, means that we will never buy a car from them and, in fact, will actively warn others away. This is a sleazy way to do business, and is the kind of action that gives car salespeople a bad name. After our interaction with Gina on the phone this afternoon, I had planned on writing a much different kind of letter, complimenting her for the way she was able to make this car buying experience so pleasant. It is unfortunate that instead Im writing this letter.

I provided Gina with the Fusion Hybrid quote that was not accurate. I made an honest mistake and was not trying to mislead you in order to get you in the door. The car I located and mistakenly quoted you on was a fleet vehicle, meaning that it was only available to be purchased through a business account, also known as a fleet account. I did not realize that the car was not available for purchase by the general public. I was very excited to provide you such a great price, and I was equally disappointed to learn that the car was not available for you to purchase. Our Ford Manager told me that he could give you a better price than the one you received through USAA, but that the car I quoted you on we could not sell. Our goal is to be upfront and honest with all our customers. We understand that word of mouth is the most valuable form of advertise any company can have and we pride ourselves in our repeat and referral business. The last thing we want is for a customer to feel that we were being deceptive in order to earn their business. Your satisfaction is important to us. Please accept my sincere apologize for the confusion and disappointment I caused.
