Getting a used car is never an easy process. But I have to say Pride Hyundai made it easy for me and especially easy due to an employee named Marvin Bony. He did not try to sell me on the most expensive used car, but showed me the most affordable ones that fit my price range as well as offering the best bang for my buck. Having friends and colleagues who are looking to purchase a new/used car, I will make sure to refer them to Pride Hyuandai, and specifically Marvin Bony. Buyer/Leaser BEWARE!!! If you are in the market for a new vehicle I STRONGLY URGE you to read this before purchasing or leasing a vehicle with a Hyundai dealer. Also, after reading my story I hope that you will BOYCOTT Pride Hyundai on the Lynnway in Lynn. My story starts when I went to the dealership where I leased my vehicle from to get an inspection sticker. I was told it would take about 45 minutes so I went to sit and wait for the vehicle. About 25 minutes later, the service rep came out and told me they couldn’t give me an inspection sticker because there was an issue with the registration. I asked what the issue could be because I was leasing this vehicle but Hyundai owned it so there shouldn’t have been any issues. Basically the rep said sorry there’s nothing I can do. So next I spent 2 days on the phone trying to reach a person at the registry of motor vehicles. Finally, I got to speak to a rep and she told me that the owner of the vehicle (Hyundai Finance) had reported the plates on my vehicle stolen in July of 2016. This meant that although I had been paying all of my monthly payments, excise taxes and extra coverage insurance on the vehicle I could not legally drive this vehicle and had been driving it for the past 8 months. If I had been pulled over for any reason I could have been arrested and the vehicle would have been impounded. This realization infuriated me that I was never notified of this issue. I’m sure things would have progressed differently if the company actually cared to inform me of the problem. I spent the next few days talking to multiple reps at Hyundai Finance, and although they all apologized for the issue, not one person could help me rectify this problem. The common quote was “this is the first time I have had this issue and I have no idea how to help youâ€. So instead of trying to get me the help I needed they just kept transferring me around from dept. to dept. After multiple times trying to get some answers by phone and was unsuccessful I tried to go to back to Pride Hyundai on the Lynnway and speak to the General Manager, Calvin Day. Not only could he not be bothered to make a phone to try and help me. He treated me very rudely and kicked me out of the dealership. This treatment by the General Manager†Calvin Day†was the final straw for me. The next day I decided to terminate my lease with Hyundai Finance and I returned the vehicle to the leasing agent at the dealership. Now for the final out come to my story. They took the car back, resold it and then sent me a bill to pay. They say because I terminated my lease early I am penalized and they want $2000 to be paid in 8 days. My problem with this is I held up my end of the lease agreement by making my payments on time every month and paying the excise tax. Meanwhile, the vehicle was unregistered, and I couldn’t legally drive it. So, if Hyundai Finance kept up their end of the lease I would have kept the vehicle and not terminated the lease early. Therefore, I should not be penalized for breaking the lease when technically they broke the lease first. I hope my story will help others when trying to procure a new vehicle. I have never been treated so badly by a company that supposedly wants your business. I felt that they could care less about me and I wasn’t even worth the General Manager’s time to make a phone call. GOOD LUCK!!! As for me, I will be going back to Toyota!
