On July 24, I completed an online form for a free $50 Amazon gift card to test drive a 2017 Malibu. A woman called to schedule the appointment for July 25. The two men who I was told to ask for were not available. The person who gave me the sales pitch, ride, and quote (higher than website price) said he would file the gift card form. That person was not well aware of the selection and location of the vehicles. I noticed a plugged tire. I received no follow-up on the quote or gift card. I completed the online inquiry form seven times. On August 2, I brought a new car not at Gengras. (In general, test drive the vehicle(s) for which you get quote(s).

We found a car on cars.com at this dealer. We contacted them to make sure the listing was accurate, pricing correct and that the still had car in stock. All of which was responded (over 3 emails, one with maganger) with an answer of yes price is accurate, car is in stock and all details in listing were accurate. We drove the 1 1/2 journey to find the car was being used by service manager, filthy, used cigarettes in it and it had 5,600 miles. The car was listed as new, 53 miles and listing showed pictures of when they accepted off the truck. I understand dealers use cars, but to confirm 3 times that the listing was accurate and then try to sell us a used car, shows the lack of customer care of this dealership. Also, to allow people smoke in the car is unacceptable. Bad dealership with bad values surrounding its customers. Would not recommend.

I emailed them and asked if the price listed in Cars.com was their best price and they responded saying that they could not give that price. I called them on it, but it was no use. Their "internet sales" manager could not be bothered to answer simple questions about the differences between two cars on their lot. Although buying the car 2 years ago was a pleasant experience definitely not happy with the service department. Had to have my car towed in and they cant figure out what is wrong with it. Although I was called late the next afternoon to say the car was ready and that the malfunction light was off "right now". Did that mean when I picked it up the light would eventually come back on and I would have more problems? When I got there late morning the next day I was told they were going to take it for another test drive just to make sure everything was ok. Well this was a huge inconvenience for me and the person who drove me there since he took the morning off from work to drive me there. When it came back from the test drive was told it was still bucking. They were going to try something else and test it again. Came back again and still doing the same thing. After an hour of this go around they finally gave me a loan car. Why in the world would they call and tell me it was ready for pick-up! They have had it a week now. This doesnt say much about the mechanics that work there. I do have to say that the person I am dealing with over the phone is very pleasant and cant apologize enough. But that doesnt get the car fixed. If by chance they figure it out soon there may be hope for them yet. But for all the inconvenience and stress this whole mess has caused it shouldnt cost me anything for repairs or labor or at least be given a huge discount.

Left a message with the sales manager to put a deposit/hold on a Jeep overnight until we could get to the dealership the next day. He never returned my call. When we arrived no one came to assist us and even after asking for a salesperson, waited several minutes. After sitting down to discuss pricing, the advertised internet price was now $1,000 more since this was a purchase and not a lease. There was no indication (*) next to the price, nor was it mentioned when speaking with the internet saleswoman when I called. The trade offer was unreasonably low (were very fair and understand it needs to be reconditioned and resold) and the manager lowered the MSRP by less than $300. Salesman (John Rose) was nice, but pricing comes from the manager and this took an exceptionally long time as well. We drove an hour to the dealership and this was going to be a cash deal, very easy. Their loss and will not recommend or ever return. There are plenty of dealerships that take customers seriously and treat them fairly.

I left my car off at 6:30 am expecting to have had it serviced and ready at 2:45. When I was dropped off to pick it up I found my car in the same place it was left that morning. When I walked into the garage something caught the corner of my eye, it was the envelope I dropped in the drop off box at 6:30. My car hadnt been worked on. I did not find the service manager helpful at all, in fact I found him accusatory, like it was my fault. The service rep who had to deal with my wrath could not have been more helpful. I certainly hope the type of service, displayed by the manager, does not happen to another person.

Bought a 2006 Honda Civic LX from Gengras in December 2012... internal inspection report indicated that front brake pads needed to be replaced, but was assured by Kamran Kafi that the pads still had 5,000-10,000 miles of life left depending on the driving style. However, awful screeching noises forced us to have the pads replaced only a week after the car was purchased, and inspection showed that the pads were unevenly worn and one side was down to 1mm (1.6mm is the serviceable limit). Brake pads for a 2006 Honda Civic LX cost about $20. Beware when you buy a used car from Gengras... they would rather make an extra $20 than to satisfy the customer and make sure that they are driving safe, reliable car.

Just bought a used 2004 jeep wrangler from ralph at Gengras jeep in east hartford.
