I felt like my experience with this dealership was a waste of time. After finding two cars (car A and car B) I was interested in advertised on their website, I emailed a few days prior to visiting and was told both cars were still available for sale. Upon my arrival, the sales person had a difficult time locating either car. This surprised me because the lot isnt big. Finally, I was told that one of the cars (car A) I drove 45 miles to test drive had been sold the day before and the other was being repaired. I drove the short distance to their other lot only to be told that Car A had been sold "a long time ago" and that theyd get Car B brought over to the lot where I had been waiting. After another long wait, I drove back to the original lot to find Car B. After a test drive, I learned the car wasnt worth buying. I went back to my "home" county and purchased a car. Its not likely that I would return to California Motors and I wouldnt recommend them to a friend. They are too unorganized and unknowledgable. My advice is to spend the extra few bucks and shop at a real car dealership.

My wife and I were shopping for a Jaguar X-Type 3.0, and found one online at California Motors. We called the salesman and asked if he could hold it for us, since we were an hour and a half away. No problem. We arrived to test drive the car, and he directed us to a winding road, to put the car through its paces. Beautiful ride! Decided to buy, and the experience was laid back and even enjoyable. (This was a first for us after many purchasing experiences). We were handed the keys and off we went. I was interested in an 05 Altima i saw on advertized, i called to put in a credit application over the phone, at first everything seemed fine and they seemed very helpfull, but after they took my credit app i never heard from them again. Im assuming that i didnt get approved, i just think its very unproffesional that they couldnt at least give me a call and let me know, it seemed like they were very helpfull when they thought they could make a sale, but when they relized they couldnt approve me they just left me hanging.i know its not there fault i have bad credit but i still feel like that is poor customer service

I saw a 2010 Audi A4 Quattro for sale and called and talked to Mary Lis. She said the car was in perfect condition and it was in BRAND NEW CONDITION. Since I lived 4 HOURS AWAY, I asked her if the vehicle ever gotten in an accident and/or repainted. She answered instantly with NO, NEVER. I asked her to e-mail me the carfax and she said she didnt know how to. RED FLAG... How can you be in the business for this long and not be able to send me the carfax. I asked again about any accidents and/or repaint and he re-confirm it never did. I drove over 4 hours to go look at the car since it was the color I like and it had all that I wanted. The car was advertised as a Premium Plus with navigation and rear view camera. The car is indeed a Premium Plus with navigation and rear view backup camera but it got into an accident which Mary Lis said it never got into an accident. They did a VERY POOR JOB fixing the car. The front and rear bumper had been repainted. You can tell from the runs of the paint!!! She then showed me the carfax when I was there and it said "STRUCTURAL DAMAGED" from an accident. It is highly recommended in the carfax to get the car checked by a PROFESSIONAL. They did a very poor job fixing the car! The rear view camera DOESNT WORK as advertised!!!! The paint was done badly as well. The LED taillight had some dead LED and they didnt want to fix it!!! PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR: 1. Repainted front and rear bumper 2. Accident caused rear view camera not to work 3. LED taillights had some dead LEDS 4. Accident caused structural damaged I will not pay more than $15k for this car if you ask me.

I found the car that I wanted, and it was in great condition! and a great deal! There was a small piece on the body that was a little tweaked, and the dealership fixed it right away. Being a used car, there were a few other interior bummers (glove box broken; visor hooks broken; auxiallry plug had a broken piece in it), but I suppose thats part of the used car shopping experience. The salesman, Andrew, was kind and patient and was very helpful. He answered several questions even after purchasing the car, and sent online info to help with the questions I had....and I never felt like we were being fed a line. After buying the car and getting a delayed pre-purchase inspection, I was told the tires were a bit worn (but everything else on the car was in great condition). I called the dealership, and they said to swing by so they could take a look. They saw the wearing on the front tires and one back tire with a couple of rips....so they sent me on to their tire folks who confirmed I needed new tires. All said and done, CA Motors sported me some new tires even at 4 weeks after purchase...So theyre legit and dont cut corners. And they have some amazing cars. Thanks, you guys!!

I was looking to buy a used Toyota Prius and I found one at the California Motors Dealership. When I came to look at it, I was surprised about how easy-going was the process, and how friendly and professional the staff was at the dealership. Id been searching for a used plug-in Prius since Id really come to miss my expired yellow HOV lane sticker, and had been terrifically disappointed by visits to four actual Toyota dealerships (Dublin, Milpitas, San Jose, and Sunnyvale) over the last several months. Saw a car or two on-line, visited without calling when I had a few minutes during the work week to see how things went. My own fault, in a sense, as I know that dealerships exist to move new cars via customer-as-conveyor-belt-item, and that pushing me toward financing with Toyota Motor Credit on a NEW Prius rather than spending a few extra minutes on something a year or two old n the scruffy used car section probably works out better for them as individual salespeople, but...even that said....I just found it hard to get close on a decent little used car via the dealership route. When I pinged California Motors about a Prius theyd just listed on-line, though, Andrew bounced me back immediately with some helpful information. Further, since California Motors doesnt have a particular Toyota specialty, let alone on the relatively-new plug-in version of the Prius, he did a bit of additional investigation related to carpool lane stickers and tax-credit opportunities. Was just....helpful and polite, electronically. Because San Rafael is a MUCH longer drive for me, I made an appointment by text for a few days later, and that morning he texted that the car was still there and available, and that I wouldnt be making the trip to find it had vanished from the lot. No sales pressure; no "47 people just test-drove it yesterday so you better get here now!"; just appropriate information. Good start, from my perspective. When I arrived, Armando (I think) was free at that moment, so he and I circled the car warily once or twice, retrieved the key from the office, and took a loop around town. Hed prepped on the car a little, you could tell, but was equally honest about "the plug-in is new to us....". Fine. Ill take that all day long because its honest. Back at the office, I was efficiently, as you might expect, but truly politely, passed on to the Sales Manager for the next level of detail. We started, Im not really sure how or why, by talking about the struggling Giants, then drifted back to the notion of actually moving that car off the lot. The back-and-forth was, again, polite, and was conducted, at my request, using not the "sales price" as the point of discussion, but the "out the door total" at all times, so that we didnt lose sight of fees, taxes, et cetera. We reviewed the cars brief Carfax history, confirmed a few things that we both thought we knew from a scan of potential comps on the web, mostly agreed on those comps, went back out to look at the car one more time, went back into his office to gently struggle with the figures on the screen another few minutes....and then shook hands. Done. Seriously. I made arrangements to pick the car up two days later, and when I arrived.....drumroll....there was no drama, no retrade, nobody had put another 1,000 miles on the car the last two days, there was no waiting around for someone to finish with other customers because I was already in the sold column.....nope, none of that. Nothing but a clean car with a full electric charge on the battery, paperwork in an envelope, and ready to go. Smooth purchase, car is terrific (Toyota knows how to make em), and I, personally, couldnt be happier with the transaction. Thinking about buying something spiffy, old and restored, or exotic? Cant help you there. Thinking about buying something that you can comp online and about which you know at least a few relevant things? I found these guys go be absolutely right down the middle on that one, start to finish, and Id go back in a minute....something I cant say about even one of those four Toyota dealerships.

Went down to California Motors after seeing an Audi posted on craigslist, they helped me out right away and took me out for test drive. The sales person Andrew was attentive without being overly pushy. After we got back from the test drive he left me with the car to check everything out and didnt hassle me about a sale, car was in great condition and I ended up buying helped me through every step. After it was all said and done I got a flat tire about 25 feet out of the dealership and they payed to have to the tire repaired at local tire shop. Dont buy the yelp reviews people!

professional, courteous and personable! As a woman, 53, first time buying/financing a car, insecure in car sales environments and finalizing a painful divorce, I was anxious and insecure going into the process of finding/buying a car. Never, would I have thought there was a "dream team" of guys like they in this field! But that is exactly what they are, at California Motors! The minute I stepped foot on their lot I was greeted with a big smile. This employee was down to earth and welcoming. I stress "welcoming" not pushy or intimidating. As soon as I showed interest in a particular car, once again with no pressure, he offered me the key to take it for a test drive. In a very laid back fashion, it was made it clear that I could take my time driving around. When I returned, the manager Eric Probst, was in the showroom and introduced himself, with a relaxed ease. As we talked a while, he invited me into his office and offered to answer any questions I might have. He did just that and nothing more, meaning trying to convince me on any aspect of the car or give me any sales hype. In stead he encouraged me, if I did like the car, to take it to an independent auto shop and have it inspected!!! Wow! I thought...that's honesty and confidence in his car. In my mind, the car was sold, (!) if the right price/financing would be offered. I brought family and friends in with me on a number of different occasions, every time welcomed with the same attentiveness, without pressure. I must've taken that car out four times, which they were happy to offer. Well, as of yesterday, the car is mine! So, they did, indeed, settle on a price that I was happy with and spent a lot of time getting me the best financing contract possible. Two of the times I visited I was attended to long after closing time, without even a hint to the fact it was past closing. I had absolutely no idea that finding/buying a car would, could even be, so stress free and even confidence boosting and fun! I have faith, that if I ever need to return to them for anything with the car, they will do their best to resolve whatever that may be. If California Motors has a car that attracts you, go check it out! I believe in any scenario, you will have a professional, comfortable and satisfying experience.

This is THE place! Put all of your fears and skepticism aside about used car dealers/dealerships. I am a 53yr. old woman who had never purchased a car on my own. I was anxious, insecure and not trusting. From the minute I stepped into California Motors, I honestly felt more at ease than I thought possible. I was greeted with smiles, in a relaxed atmosphere. To my pleasant surprise, no salesperson jumped on me to start "wheeling and dealing". I felt free to move around the lot and showcase as I wished, filled with beautiful luxury cars. I ended up coming back a number of times with family or a friend, each and every time, the same professional welcoming and generous offer to take the car out for as long as I wanted. I bought the car, of course because I loved it, BUT it was really because of Eric Proaps, manager and Andrew Proabst, financing. They both exude down to earth honesty, knowledge, confidence and the desire to do the right thing for the customer. Eric, when I showed interest in the car immediately encouraged me to take the car to an independent dealer to have it checked out. Obviously there was nothing to hide! I was never hounded by follow up phone calls or email. Matter of fact, never was I asked for any of my personal information. California Motors is the place you want to do business with. I never thought Id actually have fun (!) going through the process of buying a car. I only expected a nerve-wracking experience. All of my needs were met, in every way. I ask to test drive a truck with the dealer, he tells me how he has other customers. hands me the keys, walks away I return, overview the truck walk into the office to return the keys. Hes watching tv. Fact of the lack of service I felt I should take my blank check elsewhere. If they ignore you as a buyer just imagine how hard it would be for them to honor a warranty. Look very close if your buying they work hard to hide damage, look for paint over spray, rubbing compound splatter, If it seems too good, odds are it is.
