Great little wagon - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By Cindy - April 25 - 3:53 pmI have had my 2000 Esteem for over 5 years and have had no problems with it. I had the brakes replaced in 2005 but nothing else other than normal oil and filter changes have had to be done. I do not drive as much as most people but with over 76000 now on it I am still not finding that there is a problem. The back seat has been able to sit three kids on a regular basis even though two of them have been adult sized or nearly so. We do not take it long distances and I am sure that would get old with everyone in it but for distances up to an hour this car does fine even with my sons who are 6 tall sitting in the back seat. Fuel economy has a large range but it gets no less than 25 MPG.

Not a bad car - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By Sohcahtoa - November 29 - 10:00 amBought this car in Jan 2003 for $7000, it had only 1,300 miles on it. Ive been very pleased with it. Only problem I had was the catalitic converter dying on me, but I think that was self-inflicted by hitting a speed bump really hard, but warranty still covered it. Sticker said 26 mpg city/33 mpg highway, but I actually get 28/35.

What a good surprise! - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By Squirrel - October 19 - 11:03 pmCar was two years old and had 30,000 miles on it at purchase. Id read good reviews, but my expectations were low. I was just looking for a cheap little wagon to drive for a while. I tested a 1.6L, but it was underpowered. The 1.8L is way better. I liked that the 1.8L wouldnt need timing belt replacement, since it has a chain. Well, Ive been surprised by how much I love this car. Its cute, extremely peppy, and fits a ton of stuff. Its amazingly reliable. In five years, Ive put 30,000 miles on it, mostly vacation driving. Weve taken it out on the road for weeks at a time without a worry. Its been from sea level to Colorado mountain tops. Its a champ.

best car for the buck - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By jaeckert - September 9 - 2:00 amPurchased 6/2/2000 and I will not part with it. Power is good as sea level BUT could be better in the mountains. (USE 91 OCTANE IN THE MOUNTAINS) Mileage runs about 24 street and 35 in freeways. Handles very well and is stable at all speeds and rides like a larger car.

bare basic car.. - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By Titu Bhowmick - June 15 - 2:13 pmI just bought this car a month ago with 31 k miles on it. Now it has 33k. The car was in a good condition when used. There are very few good things about this car .. it is usually average or below average. The car is very simple in design and so it is easy to work on. The build quality is bad, there are noises everywhere. A critical bolt for the engine mount snapped in the first few weeks. I think the wagon is a more practical alernative.

Hats of to Suzuki! - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By dalemccarty_17 - April 28 - 2:00 amI had my car for a little under a month now and I still like it. The only problem that I have had with it was a flat tire at the dealership, that has nothing to do with the cars reliability, tires go flat on every vehicle out there. It is a good first time car, my first car, (when I was in 10 grade) was a 1991 GMC Jimmy 4x4 4dr. I DO NOT recomend this truck, it was sopposed to have 4x4, ABS, and electric windows, guess what, the 4x4 never locked in, the ABS didnt work (I had some close calls that would have not be close if i had ABS), and the windows would slowly go down, and not go up.

2000 Esteem GLX Wagon - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By chaser - October 24 - 6:06 pmSince I purchased my Esteem Wagon in July of 2001, I have had one problem. About a week after I purchsed it (it had only 10k miles), the passenger seid front brake pad "de-laminated" itself from the mounting surface. The dealer covered it under warranty and not one thing has gone wrong with the car. Although it has a propensity for blowing brakelights. I have put 12K miles on the car since purchase and it has been a pleasure. Better than any US brand I have owned in the last 10 years.

Good buy - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By pmohan - April 7 - 10:00 amBought it second hand from the dealer- one year old with 20K for $6000.00. Have been pleasantly surprised- very nifty, tight in cornering and excellent fuel use (>30 mpg/gallon). Love the room at the back with seats folded. No mechanical problems yet !

Great car! - 2000 Suzuki Esteem
By Laurak - April 27 - 5:33 pmI am the original owner. I bought it in 2000 as a dealer employee car. I paid $9,000.00 for it w/ 45 miles on it. It now has 138,200 and only thing it has had is brakes, battery & tires! Plus regular check-ups! I hate to part with it but the time has come. So will replace with another Suzuki. I am more than happy with the preformance of my Esteem. Great on gas. 36-38 mpg. I certainly got my moneys worth! Best car Ive ever owned!
