Overview & Reviews
The Sunfire gets a refresh this year that adds new front and rear fascias, a revised sport suspension and four new wheel styles. The 2.2-liter Ecotec four-cylinder is now the only engine offered, as the GT model has been dropped from the lineup. Base model Sunfires no longer come with standard ABS brakes, but it remains an available option. On the inside, there's a 60/40-split folding rear seat, an upgraded interior seat fabric and new options like side-impact airbags, XM Satellite Radio and the OnStar system.
- Low price, torquey four-cylinder engine, optional satellite radio and OnStar.
- Ancient design inside and out, cheap interior materials, poor build quality, low resale value, poor side-impact and front-offset crash test results.

Super reliable and sporty little car. - 2003 Pontiac Sunfire
By Ray Olson - October 29 - 7:58 pmI got this car second-hand from a friend, so I know the entire history. Replaced the starter motor twice, the alternator once, brake pads three times, cooling fan once, several batteries, several sets of tires. Thats it. The car still looks, runs and drives just like new after 17 years and 212,000 miles. Great handling, fun to drive, decent power and good gas mileage. My only complaint is that the ABS system seems to screw up on ice and snow. I think Id be better off without it, but its a minor issue. I always buy cheap, old beaters and this is far and away the best one ever. I think this will be the first of my cars to crack 300,000 miles.

You Get what you Pay for. - 2003 Pontiac Sunfire
By Tami - December 31 - 10:10 amEven though the car looks like a 40,000 dollar sportscar, it is about as good as a used car with a new paint job! Ive put more parts on that car in the first 50,000 miles than I put on my first car (used). I replaced two turn signal controls, the fuel pump, the left and the right power window motors, the pasanger seat adjusting handle, the heater temperature control and the seat belt lock. On top of that, you hear every sound outside. Its like riding a bus. Did I forget to mention that the car will slide on spit. If it rains slightly, you should buckle up and say your prayers, that is if the buckle works.

fun - 2003 Pontiac Sunfire
By chewbacca - March 22 - 10:00 amCar is quick and can be made quicker with all of the aftermarket parts coming out for it. The 2.2L Ecotec engine was built to be modded, this engine can hold 250+ horsepower without any major modifications to the engine internals, so strap on your turbos and nitrous boys, its gonna be a fun ride.

Love my car - 2003 Pontiac Sunfire
By Cheryl - February 11 - 10:33 pmI bought my Pontiac Sunfire in 2003 brand new and I am still happy. The only repairs were minor with a gas cap and wire harness. The Sunfire is no longer manufactured. With high gas prices my car is perfect.

I LOVE my Sunfire :) - 2003 Pontiac Sunfire
By kylo1201 - January 29 - 7:36 amI bought my 2003 Sunfire brand new with like 134 miles on it. It now has 106k and it still runs great! Its very reliable, I never worry about driving long trips. I know my baby will make it!! I had to get the left front strut replaced once while it was under warranty but no problems since. I replaced both window motors because they both stopped working. But my husband did it himself so it didnt cost very much. But other than that, No problems!!! I wish they still made this car so I can buy another one :)

Own one more than a year - 2003 Pontiac Sunfire
By Monica - November 20 - 10:33 amI have not been pleased with this vehicle at all! The car had electrical problems from day one! No headlights, taillights, brake lights, you name it it broke. Trunk would not latch after a few months after purchase. The plastic interior cracks and falls off. Now the car has internal engine problems. Been broke down for a few weeks and it will cost over a grand to fix one of the problems. I have called GM several times but they say there is nothing they can do. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. I never owned a new car until this one. I will never buy another Pontiac after this experience.
