Wow...you were owned - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse
By BreakNeckSpeed - September 23 - 10:00 amLet me tell you. After buying the car new what has impressed me most is the cost to maintain the vehicle. This was my first Mitsubishi, and after owning several Toyota products, what a welcome relief at the parts counter. This car is fast stock, but its fun to add something new now and then to liven up the atmosphere out on the highway. 120k miles on the clock, and still strong.

1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse
By infinity8x3 - September 9 - 11:06 pmSo far Ive had this car for a couple months and havent had too many problems. I bought it used and it did have a few kinks. One was the radiator fan went out and it overheated in a parking lot and then a couple weeks latter a hose blew and was spraying coolant all over the inside of the engine. Other than that, I have had no problems allthough the head gasket looks new. Paid $4k and dont regret it at all.

By Cookies Rock - August 26 - 2:00 amI hate this car with all my life! As soon as I got it I loved it because it was my dream car but I soon started regretting throughout the years Ive had it I had put in over 3 grand in the car it kept on breaking down on me all the time and finally my transmission went out on me and I kept up with my car too so its over all a piece of crap.

Eclepse RS Hatchback - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse
By Nima - August 10 - 2:36 pmThe car drives great. Watch for bumps though. Smooth steering, but a little trouble with quick acceleration. The car looks nice though. Ive had it 2 days, Ive already had over 10 people staring and 2 people stop completely, go in reverse and check it out. Great low priced car. Easy Stereo hook up, looks great with rims.2 Thumbs Up

Good If You Dont Want Your Kid to Speed - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse
By jeeppsu85 - May 21 - 10:26 amMy car is beautiful, but has no personality. I treated her like a daughter. I washed and waxed her weekly or bi-weekly and maintained her on a regular basis. There has been no problems with the leaks that are usually found with this model. My only problem is I tend to have problems accelerating on the highway and going uphills. In the winter, the trunk has the grand ability to smack ya on the head. This is a beautiful car but it has low performance. The 420A inline 4 has amazing economy, it hits about 230-310 miles per full tank depending how you drive. To accelerate fast you need to turn the air/heat off to get full power to the engine.

The best car ever made! - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse
By Me - February 14 - 3:53 pmI have had several cars in my days American and imports. And by far this is my favorite. Im a Tech for VW so i know my cars very well. you cant beat an All Wheel Drive turbo car with a manual trans. its so much fun, its so reliable and its one of the nicest looking cars ever made. from the mean look of the front end to the wing (spoiler) in the back. its so easy to squeeze out 350 hp or even more out of this car and cheap too. All in all i think this car is by far one of the best still out there 2008.

What a fun car! - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse
By musclehead - March 16 - 2:00 amThis car has served me well through several yers of outside sales work. It is fun to drive; unique and sharp to look at; easy to get in and out of; sound system is awesome; low maintenance and the quality in workmanship is good.

Piece of JUNK!! - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse
By Kelly - January 6 - 7:53 pmWorst car I ever had. Will NEVER but Mitsubishi again. Broke down constantly!! I know two other people who got the same car around the same time as me and they had the same complaints. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Good thing it is a small car because there were numerous times I had to push it to side of the road!

Eclipse RS - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse
By Holls - September 4 - 7:10 amThis is the first and only car I have ever owned; weve been through a lot together. (It took a few years for me to finally stop scraping the front end, for example.) I was admittedly pretty hard on it the first year or 2, so the work done is even more remarkable considering that. Ive had to get a new fuel pump, radiator hose, timing chain, and brake pads. Its still fun to drive although the pick up has declined, and it seems like some piece of plastic falls off the interior all the time. The paint job hasnt proven hardy, either, and rain occasionally leaks through the hatch opening. Its hard for older people to sit down, but once they do its pretty comfortable.
