  • GREAT CAR! - 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class
    By -

Have owned a 2018 for a short time now and absolutely love it! Excellent power, agile and very good ride for a mid size SUV. This is the perfect car for a single person or couple to go tooling around in. If you are looking for a "family" vehicle I would look elsewhere. I did a great deal of research and comparison shopping and looked at Audi, BMW and Lexus. What sold me on this car is that it has, hands down, the best interior of any of them. The fit and finish are superb, the knobs and buttons feel like metal rather than cheap plastic and the interior oozes luxury. I am not a techno geek so all the negative customer complaints on the technology deficiencies of the vehicle meant very little to me. If you are like me and care more about ride, comfort, visibility and quality of the fit and finishes then you would be making a huge mistake if you did not take a look at this vehicle. One final note.......when I pay almost $50000 dollars for a vehicle, I want it to look like I spent $50000 on it and this was the only mid size SUV that did.

  • Best car I have ever owned! - 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class

This is the best riding and driving car that I have ever owned! I traded in my 2011 Mercedes E350 sedan because I wanted to ride higher and have a smaller SUV than my husbands Acura MDX (along with all the new Mercedes safety technology). We ordered the AMG GLC 43 AWD and added the upgraded lighting package, active parking package, Garmin navigation as well as Apple CarPlay and the heated/ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel. This is the 1st car that I have looked forward to driving every morning. The acceleration of the AMG engine, steering, turning radius and braking are fabulous! I dont miss the Mercedes COMAND system at all! Using the Garmin navigation (installed with a SD card in the center console) works with the head-up display. And I have used Apple CarPlay separately with no problems (as long as you have cell phone service, but does not display on the heads-up windshield display). The Acura MDX is more "cushy" in the front seats and has the active lane assist and adaptive cruise control (that I did not get since you have to buy the COMAND system with navigation to get the Mercedes Distronic systems and I specifically wanted Apple CarPlay and Garmin navigation too). My husband wants to drive the AMG more than the MDX because the driving experience is actually fun! I highly recommend this car.

Be sure and get Apple Car Play. (I have lots of the bells and whistles, so that upped the final price.) I love having my phone mirrored on the screen. Being able to press one button on steering wheel for voice control on texts, calls, directions, etc. makes driving easier and safer. The car drives like a dream. The engineering of the transmission is amazing! I’ve had the car a week and a half, and it takes some practice knowing how to stylize and personalize the car to my preferences, but I’m getting there. Dealership and the i-button have been patient and helpful. With recent hip replacement surgery, I knew I needed a car that was easy to get in and out of. I suppose any smaller SUV would have done that, but this car has a come hither smile built into it. This car is perfect. It’s got a surprisingly sporty, confident approach in its design. Dang, this is a fun, cool, safe, luxurious car. Love it!

  • Great car - terrible technology - 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class

I have owned a black 2018 GLC300 for three months now, and it is a great car - comfortable, good performance, lots of nice features, looks classy. Gas mileage is very good - much better than I expected. My only niggle with the ride is that the car can judder on bumps - I have the upgraded wheels, and I have read in other reviews that the larger wheels can be detrimental to the ride - I can attest that those reviews are accurate. Not a huge deal, but noticeable. Another niggle on a car at this price point is that the park distance control sensors are not included on anything but the highest package (I got premium package 1, not 2). Again, not the end of the world, but a bit surprising - I made the mistake of assuming that it was there. However, the reason I would not buy this car again is the horrendous technology and interface system for the radio, nav, and media devices - I feel like I have gone back in time 10 years to before the iPhone. Perhaps that seems like a silly reason not to buy a car, but since all of the cars at this level are so similar (BMW, Merc, Jag, Acura, etc), it becomes a bigger deal. Compared to the others, it is terrible. Voice recognition does not work for the phone, and it is so clunky for nav it is not usable. I will get by using my iPhone - with google maps and siri I dont really need the features on the car, but its disappointing. So - depends on what your priorities are - car is great, but if you want some technology from this decade, go with a BMW or some other car (my wife drives a Mini, which has the BMW tech, and its great). Last note for those in SE Pennsylvania - MB West Chester was fine during the purchase process, but I am surprised that there has been no follow up at all - when I compare that to the follow up from Ottos Mini (those guys are great) or other dealers from whom I have bought a car, a bit surprising. I havent needed to speak to them, but do think that a lack of follow up reflects the management of the dealership (perhaps it was me or this is a one off). All the best in your car search.

  • Great SUV. Clunky Technology. - 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class
    By -

I just read the review about how nice the car is...except for the technology. I won’t rehash what’s already been said. But I’m shocked that a car from MB at this price point is so far behind the competition. Placing a call takes 47 steps. Trying to decipher the on screen display for anything is next to impossible. Especially while cruising down the road. The Audi Q7 that I traded in for this car was 10x more functional. And that car was a 2007!

  • Disappointed in my Mercedes GLC - 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class
    By -

My biggest disappointment with my GLC is that it does not have Apple/Android Play and cannot be retrofitted. The car doesnt even allow me to voice to text when I receive a text. I have to select command and then tell it to send a text to ... I would not have bought this car if I knew the technology was so antiquated. In addition Ive had to take my car in twice in the first 90 days, once to have the transmission adjusted because it was skipping gears and once to have the brake pads replaced because they were squeaking so bad in cold weather.
