This Year's Model Updates:

Lincoln redesigns its Town Car this year, making it lower, stiffer and faster. The interior is nicely improved as well, with softer seats and better positioned controls.

Pros:
Cons:
  • There is a stigma that goes with buying a Town Car. It will either label you as a Sun City retiree or a New York limousine chauffeur. Not the image that most people are looking for.

This car has been a constant problem since new,,both back window motors failed early, Torque Converter failed at 40,000 miles;barely in warranty,,NOW out of warranty,,Plug over coils failed twice($400.00 each time) and Now at 65,000 mile,,heater damper door warped,,over $1100.00(10 hours at $84 an hour flat rate to remove dash)...Passenger window motor failed last week,,,I will leave broken (Lincoln $500 to fix),,,will replace with Lexus or Mercedes,,Lincoln just has very poor build quality,,too little power and no customer service!!

Bought when new. Regular maintanence, Only time it has ever been in the shop is to have the oil changed every 15000 miles. This makes my 7th Lincoln and they were all wonderful and maintenance free, but this has been the best one yet. To be 10 years old, I still have people think it a brand new car. The styling is so current and it is the most comfortable and smooth, quiet riding car I have ever known. No rattles or leaks. Youll never find a better car or a car with a larger trunk. To this day we get 21.5 mpg on highway. If you are looking for economy, buy a moped! I have absolutely no complaints.

  • Really Holds Up - 1998 Lincoln Town Car

Every car has a few irritations, in this case door hinges that dont latch and brakes that pull right very slightly when it rains, and an unfriendly trunk thats too deep. Rides like a cloud, very plush and relaxing and QUIET! But best of all I get over 26mpg on the expressway and average about 21 with a mix of city and expressway driving. The engine is so solid I know one

Great car. Ive had several town cars over the years and this one is the most comfortable to drive of all them. This one stil has a slight wind noise around the window as did all the other town cars in this model series.

I have inherited this car w/39,000 miles. A dream to own and drive. It now has 44,000 and still appears as new. I particularly like the mileage and extreme quiet.

  • ok if you have money to fix problems - 1998 Lincoln Town Car

brought the car year and a half ago and rides like a dream but many many many problems. In the year and a half i have had it the window wiper motor has gone out, my windows half the time dont work (all 4 of them), head gasket blew, water that leaks into the back floor when rains and many other minor problems and let me add I take very good care of my cars and dont beat them. I recommend this car but be prepared to drop some dollars on it.

this car is wonderful to drive. not great on gas, looks real good. the only thing is the paint fades on this model and ford will not make it good. its $3500.00 to repaint. only fades on the passenger side doors. be careful of the paint job. that is my only complaint about this car. thanks,
