Overview & Reviews
This all-new entrant into the luxury SUV market is the first truck ever sold by Lincoln. Based on the highly acclaimed Ford Expedition, the Navigator is powered by a 5.4-liter, SOHC V8 engine and has standard goodies that include illuminated running boards and a load-leveling air suspension. This truck also features one of the largest grilles this side of a Kenworth.
- Big, powerful and luxurious. Just the ticket for attending that charity ball in the Tetons.
- Take a look at the grille on this monster.

Overall Overview - 1998 Lincoln Navigator
By Pynna - April 15 - 10:00 amWe had purchased a used 98 navigator and so far it drives so much fun. It takes off and have a lot of power. The downsides were the labor cost of this vehicle.

Stay Away! - 1998 Lincoln Navigator
By ScrewedbyFORD - April 3 - 2:00 amMany of the Ford engines built in 97 and 98 had a defect in the cylinder heads causing spark plugs to blow out. I have researched hundreds of cases. Ford will take no responsibility for it. Hence the owner is stuck with a $3000.00 - $5000.00 repair. I have owned Fords all my life. Never again!!!!

Sometimes the First ones are the Best - 1998 Lincoln Navigator
By Craig - November 29 - 2:00 amBought this 98 Navigator in 2003 after looking for a Minivan. Initially thought the vehicle was too classy for an SUV. However other than replacing coils it has been fantastic. Usually the early models are lacking, but I feel with Lincoln they had something to prove and put all the quality into the 1998. We still have it with 138,000 on it now and love it..

By Lex-poe - August 25 - 10:00 amGreat Great Great Suv. I didnt know the truck handled that well until i bought it. definitely attracts a lot of attention. luxurious, well built, very very reliable, powerful. i just wrecked mine, and im shopping for another already. i cant afford an escalade, which might be slightly better, so its Navi Navi all the way.

1998 Nav Still Going Strong - Smoothly - 1998 Lincoln Navigator
By Carlos - November 21 - 7:06 amHad my grandpa up this week, and he still marvels at the look and drivability of my 98 Nav. I have enjoyed it from day 1. Of course gas prices were south of $1 when I first bought it, and I have been getting 15 MPG for as long as I have had it, so this is one of the drawbacks. When it is cleaned up, waxed, and wheels detailed, it is still quite an impressive vehicle.

Good made Better - 1998 Lincoln Navigator
By jtr02a - August 14 - 10:00 amMy family has loved owning this Navigator, it is wonderful for Boy Scout campouts and long distance travel. We purchased this vehicle because our family is growing (65", 64", 511", & 510") and needed more leg and headroom and this was perfect. Aside from the obviously bad mpg (on all SUVs) and slightly underpowered acceleration (for a Lincoln, great compared to "normal" SUVs), this is a great, stable SUV. We own several Lincolns and will definitely continue to buy. The newer models seem to have corrected most of the imperfections found on the 98.
