Overview & Reviews
The entry-level Lexus has been totally redesigned this year, growing in nearly every dimension. Lexus manages to eke out more power from the ES 300's 3.0-liter V6 engine. No longer just a dressed-up Camry, the ES 300 has finally come into its own.
- Beautiful new shape, more powerful engine, more interior space, and higher levels of luxury than the previous model.

Great Car but ... the Paint! - 1997 Lexus ES 300
By Lexus for Life - December 10 - 10:56 pmPurchased this car in 2004 with 64K. Replaced timing belts, perform regular oil change and its been a worry free car ever since. Nice, reliable, smooth, quiet, tranquil rides. We had great luck with previous ES 300 (96) so its natural to get another Lexus. Love the center console for storage & arm rest. The only complaint ... the PAINT, Its a joke! Paint around the contour on both mirrors peels off slowly.

Just a GREAT car ! - 1997 Lexus ES 300
By rtk - October 20 - 5:33 pmBought the Lexus in Florida and drove it home to Idaho. Perfect drive. Not a hiccup of any kind. Talk about quiet and smooth. Nice stereo, too. Mileage has always been 25-29 mpg. Ive driven it 10,000 miles already and loved every mile. The paint is still flawless and the interior looks new. Just great quality materials in this beauty. Its a better car than my last 2 Cadillacs.

Overall good car - 1997 Lexus ES 300
By Lexus Es 300 - July 1 - 12:40 amPurchased this car in 2002. It had 59000 mi. on it. Now the odometer shows 98000. No major problems, except with the radio system. The LCD screen is unreadable. It is very annoying. The dealer wont admit that this is a recall. Also had to replace a gasket seal due to a leak. Regular oil change and the car is fine!

The BEST Car! - 1997 Lexus ES 300
By 757s bezt - January 12 - 7:20 pmI love my 97 Lexus ES 300, its my baby! Every time I pull up to work people stop and stare! It looks very nice and its real dependable. I make sure I get my oil changed on time and anti freeze changed. The only thing is the radio and clock...they dont last that long...lol but other than that its excellent. My mom has 300,000 miles on her 94 ES 300 and it still runs better than any new vehicle out there!

1997 300E - Good Car - 1997 Lexus ES 300
By V312155 - December 5 - 11:40 amExcellent car. Always quiet. I havedriven over 180,000 city miles. I did have a "smoking" condition around 90000 miles due to a faulty valve problem. Lexus paid the repair (100%), even though it was out of warrantry. This valve problem affected many of their cars with my engine (standard 300e).

Perfect... Even after the Crash - 1997 Lexus ES 300
By Okus1984 - April 29 - 8:43 amThe car was orig. bought at 115k in 04 by a relative. She totaled it out this winter. I bought it from her, and put work into it myself. The car looks brand new now. (only cost me $550 in parts) Even after the crash this car drives like new! Its fast enough to get up and go. The gas mileage is great! Its comfortable to drive. Its been on numerous 8 hour road trips. I love Lexus. I have owned a Sc400, Ls400, 96 ES, and I have a RX300. I love Lexus! No wonder they are the TOP Luxury Car company in America! BTW nite and day difference from the 96 and below ES.

A very stylish and reliable used car - 1997 Lexus ES 300
By Kevin Maturey - March 15 - 10:00 amThis was my first Lexus and I am hooked. This car has lived up to my expectations. I have put over 50,000 miles on the car in under 2 years and it rides and drives the same as when I drove it off the car lot. The Certified Pre-Owned warranty is a worth-while investment. I had to have the left heated seat element and the motor mounts replaced. I have had no mechanical problems at all. I have kept up with the scheduled maintenance and it has cost me roughly $1500 for the 50,000 miles that I have owned it.
