Overview & Reviews
The S8 is Audi's high-performance version of the flagship A8. For 2002, Audi has made an in-dash six-disc CD changer standard, and an OnStar telematics system and a tire-pressure monitor optional fare. It has also improved the stability control system and updated the navigation system software. New exterior and interior colors round out the changes.
- Faster and quicker than A8, lots of cool gadgets, all-wheel drive, aluminum space frame technology.
- Price paid for advanced technology, rather bland exterior design, costly to repair if body gets crunched.

Audi D2 S8 - 2002 Audi S8
By Anonymous - December 6 - 2:00 amBeautiful car, beautifully made and engineered. S8 with Alcantra/Recaro interior. Some of the best seats I have ever sat in. Leather is amazing, very nice solid feel to every bit of the interior. The engine looks/sounds/feels teriffic. Brakes, suspension, and handling are all very sharp and precise for a car this size. Fuel economy is nothing spectacular, but the car is geared very short compared to its A8 counterpart and is very hard to stay off of the go pedal. The car does need to be maintained properly. A coil pack and some disconnected vacuum lines have happened. Also an unknown problem with the catylitic conversion system. Overall a great work of engineering by Audi

Amazing - 2002 Audi S8
By drb 968 - August 12 - 2:22 pmI purchased this with 49,000 miles a few months ago. What an amazing, comfortable car. It handles nearly as well as my Porsche 968 cab, but is so much more comfortable & quiet! Bose Stereo/Nav is rubbish and will be replaced in the next few weeks. If the chance to look at one comes your way, make the effort.

S8 Smokin - 2002 Audi S8
By drp - January 14 - 5:32 pmAs a former BMW M5 and 7-Series owner I have to say that the Audi S8 tops them both. The S8 delivers the comfort of the 7-Series with the all-out performance of the M5 (but without the cramped cabin). The ride is stff but not harsh and the lightness of the aluminum body and suspension makes it feel like a much smaller car than it is. Nimble like a sports car, yet with plenty of leg room and a humongous trunk, the S8 gets my vote for the best high-end sports sedan of all time.

Stealth and style - 2002 Audi S8
By Pugboy - February 11 - 2:00 amFast, handsome, unobtrusive, the S8 gets my vote for any long-distance car trip. Seats and legroom are excellent. Acceleration from 65 to 85 (or from 85 to 105 -- but I wouldnt know) is tremendous. The price you pay is poor gas mileage. We love the interior layout and materials. Light on its feet for a large car. Grippy tires, stiff suspension. Excellent sound system. Huge trunk.

Why All Audis Rule - 2002 Audi S8
By AudiDriver2002 - October 1 - 2:00 amThis is BY FAR the best Audi I have ever driven, and Ive driven quite a few. The ride, power, luxury ... just awesome. Any doubt that anyone has about this car is purely groundless. Quattro = best 4-wheel drive system ever. Cannot be beat. One and only flaw: Doesnt exactly sip gas... but not really hard on it either (a 1998 A6 is harder on gas) since it is made of aluminum. Which is also nice, since it improves stiffness and safety without increasing weight (but increasing price :). Still definately worth it. 360 hp = awesome power. Every possible luxury appointment has been added. Just an all-around awesome car.

5 passenger 911 - 2002 Audi S8
By wclark - September 10 - 2:00 amGreat road car. Steering feels a little light but precise. Car feels lighter than it is...Fast, quick to turn-in, balanced in corners, amazing brakes. Dunlops supplied are a dissapointment. One blew for no known reason and a second develop blister. Remaining 2 have scalloped badly in under 10k miles. Alignment checked OK.

S8 Evaluation Review - 2002 Audi S8
By Leo Popkie - June 6 - 2:00 amThis S8 has incredibly smooth acceleration from the 4.2 liter V8 that is normally aspirated. No turbo or supercharger jerk. Handling/its very responsive for its large size with the Brembo brakes more than ample. All in all, a great vehicle for open road driving!
