As a follow-up to the S80 T6 Executive, Volvo has released the T6 Elite, which combines the increased rear legroom, wider rear door openings and interior luxuries of the Executive with the convenience of a rear bench seat, thus providing room for five. Additionally, all S80s will get Emergency Brake Assistance (EBA), enhanced traction control performance and improved throttle management, resulting in quicker response in everyday driving situations. Other improvements include color-coordinated exterior trim (rather than the usual black moldings), an emergency release trunk release handle and the availability of a DVD-based navigation system and xenon headlamps. New exterior color choices are Pearl White and Black Sapphire. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of its first car, Volvo heightens comfort levels for rear-seat passengers with a special trim level. The car's wheelbase is the same, but special door hinges allow for a wider door opening in order to access a roomier rear seat. Executive leather upholstery and a sunshade are standard. A rear-seat entertainment system with dual 7-inch screens can play DVD, television or a video game. Another option is a refrigerator in the rear center armrest. The Special Edition S80 can be distinguished by the body-colored bumpers and moldings.

Stylish, comfortable performance - 2002 Volvo S80
By Volvo lover for life - July 4 - 2:00 amI love my S-80! This car has it all. I was torn between a BMW 5 series and my S-80, Im so glad I went with the Volvo. When i drive this car, I drive long distances. You cant beat it for comfort. Styling? Its a head turner. My problems have been so few and so minor that theyre not worth mentioning. Buy this car, you wont be disappointed.

Just too many problems... - 2002 Volvo S80
By Craig1024 - May 22 - 2:00 amI got mine in November 1999. I have not had 6 months of trouble free motoring since then. The electrical problems simply wont quit. The check engine light has a mind of its own; you never know whether its going to be on or off. I have also had power steering, washer and turn signal problems.

Disappointment S80 - 2002 Volvo S80
By s80 - March 1 - 9:20 pmI have been really unhappy with the purchase of this 2001 S80 Volvo. I have had numeriuos issues with the car. Transmission faulty, engine block was cracked on delivery. Volvo did stand behind the 2 new cars to replace these two duds!! However things did not improve..leaky, squeaky sun roof, dash rattle, must I go on! I am selling this car this week. I really thought that buying the Volvo would be a great investment. This is not the Volvo of the past.

Whats with the lights! - 2002 Volvo S80

Its fun to drive and with the T6 Turbo, it can get up an go with the best Europe has to offer. Very comfortable, great heated seats and the sound system is can really crank it out. It rides like a dream and handles well too. Overall we are pretty pleased with the car. Now the BAD NEWS....We have had the car for 3 years and it has been in the shop more than 10 times for a variety of problems. The biggest offenders are the head lights and daytime running lights. We have had them replaced no less than five times. The front brakes had to be replaced at 35K miles, which seems a little early for normal driving.

Not your fathers Volvo - 2002 Volvo S80
By landlocked - August 28 - 10:00 amDad loved his Volvo, and I am my fathers son, but the Volvo I have fallen in love with is ten times the car that dad owned when I was growing up. That said, theres still a lot under the skin that remains. The safety is still there, the comfort and solid feel is still there, but it now has a skin that turns heads wherever I go. Ive had the car a little over a year now, and I expect to get many more out of the car. More than a few people tell me that everyone in the office envies my car. It looks and feels good inside and out.

CHUMPMOBILE - 2002 Volvo S80
By Master - July 22 - 2:00 amI was loaned an 2002 S80 T6 (loaded) while my older Volvo 900 series car is in the shop. The S80 goes when you step on the gas, but so what? A car in this price range should have ample power. Take some friends out for a round of golf? See what happens when its time to put the bags in the trunk. The seats are so inferior to the 900 series seats, its as if its not a Volvo (definitely unacceptable for tall drivers, the seat bottom is to small for long legs). The plastics used in the engine bay are totally inferior when compared to older Volvos. The glove box lever, the hood release lever, door handles, and dashboard knobs are unacceptable for any Volvo.

Poor quality - 2002 Volvo S80
By Charlie Mak - November 2 - 10:00 amVehicle is underpowered. The sheet- metal used is very poor. After one year car has many dents that can’t be explained. The roof has two that looks like the car is buckling. The smallest door bang turns out to be a large dent. The doorjambs can’t be quieted. The sunroof is noisy and grinding. I had upgraded interior wood installed by the dealer. Without the wood the interior looks bland. The front wheels have to be cleaned weekly due to the heavy brake dust. My wife loves the car. I on the other hand wouldn’t purchase another until the issues described we corrected. However, after 31K we have had no mechanical problems.

What a nice ride! - 2002 Volvo S80
By redtailwolf - October 10 - 2:00 amFirst leap into up scale drivng. we test drove BMW, Mercedes, Saab. Tis car handles beter than all of the above. we also drove Acura and Lexus. Te Lexus was close but the safety ofhe Volvo won us over.
