  The S-80 Turbo is a fantasticly designed car. Most of the problems have been peripheral electrical glitches, i.e. the door lock control module, short range remote, etc. Only one significant failure: New transmission under warranty! Volvo was great and replaced it immediately plus a rental car, but no trannie should fail at 40k. Ill wait and see, as I just purchased the Volvo extended factory warranty and plan to keep the car to at least 7 years and 100k+. Its worth it.

  We have always driven Fords or Dodges. Since the children are growen we wanted to buy something more adult oriented and classy. I love my Volvo so far, I feel so special driving it, when heads turn and comments are made about the looks of it. So far no problems.

  Bought certified pre-owned, and I absolutely love this car. Engineering and function are wonderful, and its a blast to drive the T6. Highly recommend as a used car, the new ones are a bit pricey. (Better to let a rich person eat the first three years of depreciation!)

  Great interior/drive, spotty reliability - 2000 Volvo S80

  I bought this car in July of 08 with 74K miles on it and was given a 3 month warranty from the dealer. I noticed the transmission slipping noticeably almost immediately and took it in to the dealer, as Ive read these cars have transmission problems. It was covered by the warranty and replaced for free. Ive also had the front brake pads and rotors replaced and the cruise control works sporadically. The interior is stylish and extremely comfortable, and the drive is great. Plenty of power. I would tell anyone in the market for a 2000 and later S80 to be careful when looking. Make sure the car is in good shape. If its been treated well, there shouldnt be too many problems.

  Ive had this car for 2 years and have only done regular maintenance and oil changes. Very comfortable car, great for road trips. I would definately recomend Volvo to anyone!

  The previous owner took excellent care of her. She hardly looked sat in, much less driven. I couldnt believe my luck, to total my Volvo sw and find a beaut waiting for me to buy her. Its amazing to put my foot on the accelerator and find out Im going 93 and it feels like Im going 35! She feels like an affordable luxury car. Leather seating, air conditioning ducts behind the rear seats, front seat warmers, wiper blades on the headlights, a button for wet weather control. The ride is quiet, cruise control makes the drive effortless, smooth. She was used after all; the locks needed replacing, and the transmission because I forgot to shift out of low while driving on the freeway.

  Its true what they say, only the ones with problems are the ones who speak up! I purchased my 2000 S80 shortly after an associate of mine bought his. I now have about 87,000 miles on mine and not an ounce of trouble. A recall was preformed at no charge and Volvo did the free software upgrade. After reading some of these reviews, I contacted my associate to ask him about his. He remembers one repair under warranty but believes it might have just been a recall. Overall, he said the reliability has been superb! He owns the 2.9 and mine is a T6. Compared to my previous BMWs, this car has been absolutely wonderful! I recommend this car to anyone!

  Still a very nice automobile - 2000 Volvo S80

  I truly enjoy driving my 2000 S80. I recently purchased the car used with 34K miles. I drive between 70 and 100 miles a day and the S80 makes my commutes a pleasure. I love the way the car looks, interior is incredible, and the stereo, its like being in a concert hall. The seats are superb. I feel very safe and confortable driving the car. The gas mileage has been very good as well, averaging around 25 MPG.

  Aside from the fact that Volvo has created vehicles that can be serviced primarily only at the dealer (where nothing is inexpensive), this is an awesome car. Combination city/hwy economy is 24mpg. She handles excellent in wet or dry conditions and it is by far the most comfortable car I have ever driven! Id stay away from the T-6, but the 2.9L is exceptional.
