Overview & Reviews
Volvo offers two generations of its S40 sedan for sale in 2004. The old S40 receives few changes this year; however, an upscale LSE trim version has been added. There are also minor revisions to the front fascia, and the audio system now comes pre-wired for a CD changer. Midway through the model year, an all-new S40 arrives as a 2004.5 model. Nothing is carried over from the previous S40. The new sedan is shorter in overall length but has a longer wheelbase -- this translates to better handling and more interior room. Whereas the previous S40 has only one drivetrain option, the new version has two engine and three transmission choices.

Thank God Volvo buys back - 2004 Volvo S40
By david047 - February 22 - 10:00 amHad the car less than 2 days and Volvo still cant figure out what is wrong with this thing. This is my second Volvo , 850 turbo was the first, a better car but Ford didnt own them then. They are currently replacing the whole emission system. At least the dealer Buys back or replaces which is where I am at the moment.

conservative good looks - 2004 Volvo S40
By bpwrightwv - October 11 - 10:00 amIve had my car for only a couple weeks, enjoy it so far. Rides smoothly, handles nice, good zip, conservative exterior good looks have made some turn their heads. Drove over a portion of highway that had been stripped in order to repave, fairly considerable buzzing in the drivers side pillar, though normally it doesnt. Noticed a very slight squeek when coming to stop, not sure if its brakes. I also considered the Acura TSX and also came down to styling, TSX looks too much like an Accord, the dealer wasnt very friendly, nor would they respond to my email queries. The Volvo staff were very friendly, not pushy and were willing to negotiate via email.

My First Sports Sedan And I Love It - 2004 Volvo S40
By h5863emtmatt - July 17 - 10:00 amThe T5 is fast and handles great. It sticks to the road and is responsive. Alpine White and the fresh design is a head-turner. You get a lot more car for your money compared to Audi and BMWs low end models. I have had this car for a month and am one of three who own one in San Diego. Get the Sport Package!

My wife loves it - 2004 Volvo S40
By Jeff Robinson - June 28 - 10:00 amMy wife get her S40 5 days ago. She thiniks this the best little car for her 49" body. It is easy to drive and very good looking. She says she fields safe in it and it is speedy. The seats are my favorite I could sleep for days in them. I have had some hight end cars and now driving a Land Rover Disco and The little Volvos seats are above all of them.

Disappointed in Volvo - 2004 Volvo S40
By Mich91020 - October 1 - 3:53 pmWent through not one, but two lemons. Multiple issues related to technical problems (car just froze) and cheaply made parts (engine bracket broke, yes while driving) and a number of unknowns (why is my engine light always on??)

Cool car, Qick too - 2004 Volvo S40
By jgold95 - September 22 - 10:00 amRecently purchased the new t5 for my wife and i have to say it is a pretty cool car. we traded in an audi a4 3.0 and to tell you the truth i like the volvo better. i never thought i would say that but the overall look and feel of the car is great. it handels the road well and has great pick up. so far the only issue i have with it is when storing two specific stations in memory they sometimes like to revert back to one another but volvo is aware of it and they are awaiting a software fix. But i do have to say the dolby prologic surround sound system is worth the upgrade. It sounds great.

At this price it a no brainer!!!!!!!!! - 2004 Volvo S40
By jammer - September 2 - 10:00 amMy wife and I just recently purchased our S40 and are quite impressed. The ride and comfort is just great! After driving SUVs and trucks for the past 5 yrs it is a relief to find a vehicle with accelleration, fuel ecomony, and ride comfort in such a inexpensive vehicle. The interior of the car makes you feel like you riding in a luxury vehicle costing $10,000 more. Our S40 has the premium and climate package and was bought for only $22,000!!! Anyone looking at a SAAB 9-3, Audi A4, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, or even a Hyundai XG350, do yourself a favor and look at an S40. Youll find you can save $1,000s when getting the Volvo.
