I Love My Diesel Bug - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By vwbug2000TDI - October 17 - 2:50 amIve never had a car that I have loved to drive so much. I always check out other VWs and they are checking me out also. It is like some secret club that I never knew about until I got my Bug. Who can forget the vase?

Would buy another - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By P1CDS - June 5 - 10:00 amI have had almost no trouble with my GLS. I have 55k on it. It uses about 1 quart of oil per 2k. Seems like a lot but the dealer says its okay. I will probably trade/sell this one and get another within the year. LEARN HOW TO REPLACE YOUR HEADLIGHTS BEFORE THEY GO OUT!!!!! It is way too expensive at the dealer ($85 for mine). My speedometer/odometer have always been off by about 10% - dont know why.

The little TDI that could - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By Tim York - October 17 - 8:16 pmI have been pleased to drive my bug for over 10 years. I have never had to open the engine. I do all maintenance including timing belt and oil changes. Replaced the clutch at 249,000 and have only had to do a little work on the A/C over the years. The TDI will outlast the vehicle itself as it is a workhorse that never gives up. In my type A days I got 38 to 41 MPG and over the last 100K I am averaging 43 to 46 but coasting in gear to stoplights and shifting at 2 to 2500. Will have to replace the old girl one day, but she feels like a old comfortable pair of tennis shoes that you just cant throw away. This is the best car that I have ever owned!

Still turns heads.... - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By jamb - February 15 - 10:00 amWe were looking for a vheicle for my wife, we looked at vehicle that were fun to drive, sporty, economical and reliable. We drove the PT cruiser which was like a mini-van in cool clothing. We test drove the Beetle, we fell in love with it. We have only had minor problems, which our dealer has taken care of very promptly. We are a very satisfied VW customer.

Driver Found! - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By BeetleGal - January 29 - 2:00 amI fell in love with this car the first time I test drove one three years ago. I purchased my car this past May and though its been back to the shop a few times (as can be expected for a used car), Ive had no problems with it at all. My bug is very reliable and always starts, even on frigid PA mornings. The only complaint that I have about it is that I cant really do much of the mechanical work on it myself; it has to go back to the dealer. I cant wait untill Im able to afford the convertable! I will definately buy another Volkswagen!

Still a great car after 10 years - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By Dave McLaughlin - August 13 - 6:43 pmThe VW diesel is the best, who needs a hybrid. Mileage has been 38-45 mpg over the last ten years. Car is very comfortable with 5 levels of heat for the leather seats.Car has never let our family down. With the rear seats folded you have a lot of space to haul things. If you have to drive a lot, get a diesel, your savings will add up over time. We have 145k miles and still going strong. We bought it new and still like the car.

Fun Car to Drive - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By Monte - May 9 - 9:16 amFor starters folks, if your looking at a used Beetle be prepared to put a little time and money into it. I have found so many things that the first 2 owners never took care of its crazy. My Beetle has 90,000 miles on it and its never had the cabin filter changed, the plugs and wires where still O.E., the fuel filter had never been replaced. I dont blame the car for these issues I blame the previous owners for not taking good care of the car. Since changing out the items mentioned I average 28 mpg in town and 33-34 mpg on the highway.
