Had some problems with the car but they were resolved. Bigest problem was with the oil ligt. but not much more than with other cars. The TDI is a winner in my book. No problems starting in the coldest of weather, and it has never left me stranded. Always had the maintence done on schedule, which is important. Still on the orginal tires and brakes with 83000 miles. Cant wait for the convertable to come out with TDI. Will have one when they do.

  • Good if you take care of it - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle

My mom actually bought this car a year 2000, and bought it in 2008. From the start, it was making a very loud noise from the engine, til i figured it was the air pump. So we replaced that and it takes off very fast! I have seen some reviews on this car, and i do not think this car gets the good reviews it deserves. If people actually take care of the problem and know exactly what it is, then it will be good to you. Anybody could buy a car brand new, but eventually it will need to be fixed, and something will break down. This car is running good and fast even after soo long. I could say that interior is cheap, but just driving this is very cool. even the small size makes it great anywhere.

This vehicle is very stable on the road, it has quite a power range in many gears, so that I can frequently skip gears if I am up to speed. I owned several VW Beatles years ago, and this car looks reminiscant to the early modles but handles like a Porsche. The acceleration is a joy as it moves one right into position in tight traffic.

This car is great for what it is. A fun, cute car perfect for one person, maybe two. I have a two year old who has only know this car and loves it still, but its starting to get too small to be a family car. Still Ive only had good things come from driving it. I hate to see it go. My only complaints are that its hard to see the front of the car, because of the design, so you really have to get used to it and drive by instinct instead of sight. And the side panels are wide and create blind spots. But its only caused me to be more careful.

  • Low price for German engineering - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle

The car handles very well. Nice responsive steering in tight corners. Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob gives a racing feel. The many materials used for the interior gives it a feeling of quality--not cheap plastic. Great acceleration at high RPMs. Quiet interior even at 90 mph! If you like zip around quickly, this is the right car at the right price.

  • Been good for ten years - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle

I realize I probably drive this less than most, being blessed with a 2.5 mile commute (each way), but its gone ten years with no major work due to anything other than stupidity (mine, in barreling into a deep pot hole this year that required a new catalytic converter) or age (the impeller in the water pump broke in two this year, and I took the opportunity to have the timing chain replaced - all small engines need it sooner or later. I have lost no switches or other details, but would have preferred (1) a remote that actually opened the hatchback, rather than leaving it partly unlatched but closed on cold days, and (2) a drivers window that opened a bit faster. Good, safe car, fun to drive

Fun to drive, handles great, goes like hell.

  • Turbo fun - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle

Ive had this car for 2+ years. I have had no problems what so ever! The car has been reliable and I have averaged 27.5 mpg around town. The turbo is plenty fast and reaches speeds in excess of 120 mph with ease. The after market for this vehicle is huge if you like to costumize your car. I have tuned my 1.8T for 200hp 240 tq with no problems what so ever!

My Volkswagen Beetle is roomy, fun to drive, and pleasing to the eye. My father bought this car for me and I am in love with it....

This is a great car to get around town and for long trips. It is very comfortable and handles well. Winter driving is great as well as we have found no real problems driving in the snow. The only problem is lack of trunk space but hey its a beetle..Great car...Love it!!!
