Not a bad car for the price - 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Angelina75 - June 24 - 2:00 amThe Cabrio is one of the best deals you can get on a convertible. There are lots of things they could improve, but overall its a pretty good car. Its very solid; you dont feel like youre driving a tin can down the road. You get an okay amount of power in the manual transmission version, though this car could NEVER be classified as sporty. You can also fit in any parking space that exists.

My Cabbie loves my mechanic! - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Lotttie - June 8 - 1:46 pmI love my Cabbie and she loves my private Mechanic. I will never trust a VW Dealer for the rest of my life and this will surely be the LAST VW I own. My Mechanic keeps her running. One door lock, two door handles, wheel bearings, vacuum pump, muffler, interior trunk release (VW permanently ruined this)and a dead radio. Did I mention she has 134,000 miles and keeps on running? She costs me quite a bit and I am thankful I have a good salary! Not looking forward to trading her in someday as she is a hoot to drive. "Baby Baby" hopefully will make it to 200,000 miles or by some miracle 250,000 miles. Caution: VW Cabrio....lovely to behold, lovely to drive but not lovely to maintain.

Shockingly Terrible - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Maven1216 - May 15 - 6:33 pmWow, where does one begin with a car as sub-par as this one? I have had this car for 4 1/2 years and only put 37,800 miles on it within that time AND STILL it is plagued with problems. From the electrical malfunctions, to the muffler falling off, to the interior coming apart, the transmission being completely worthless, the check engine light being perpetually on, serpentine belt being replaced, new tires, new battery, new air filters, CO2 something-or-other for my gas tank ... and on and on it goes. I am on a first name basis with my VW dealer (funny but also sad) because I am there literally, every month and I cant wait to dump this piece of junk that or drive it off a cliff.

Is this car a lemon? - 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
By cip - April 25 - 10:00 amIve had this car for two years and already have had to replace the transmission, various electrical issues/lights appear such as radio, air bag light, transmission light even the alarm went off while I was driving it! My passenger side window keeps having issues, and the interior is falling apart (already had both interior door handles replaced) - always been a vw driver, only has 22,000 miles and it is back in the shop - with a 4 year lease what do I do except continue in this never ending love/hate relationship with this car.

decent quality and great mileage - 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio
By boatbum - March 2 - 12:23 pmFrankly I am a bit stumped by some of the other reviews. This little car is pretty sound and easy to maintain. Granted, if you try to take it to a shop that is now VW savvy, you might end up with a major headache. I recently replaced the waterpump - got quotes from $475 with timing belt replacement to $1400 for just the waterpump. Same with the brakes - Midas quoted $1200 but I got them done at a small local German imports shop for $250. Do your maintenance and the car is fine. It is fun to drive, fits me easily (I am 65) and it gets great gas mileage. I have owned alot of convertibles and this one is very practical and dependable if you maintain it.

fun in the sun - 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Bob Patteet - February 5 - 10:00 amThis car is fun - and - my wife loves to drive it because it is small and handy in tight spaces. The electric roof is a plus and everything is well designed and works perfect, we even like the German styling which is not too ascetic in the golf GLS. Mileage is good now that gas prices are climbing and since Volkswagen stopped the production of these cars we are going to drive with a collectible car soon...

Drivers Found - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio
By hobbes - January 17 - 10:00 amThe cabrio is such a fun car and I recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time while still being a little practical! Monsoon stereo sounds amazing. People are constantly asking me about my car and once your a cabrio owner, its like youve joined a family. When someone else in a cabrio passes you, they always smile. (only they know how much fun it is) The cabrio is definitely the best kept secret in the affordable convertible market, as none of its competitors can live up to it. No other convertiblecan match its combination of safety (side airbags), practicality and fun. I love my car!

my faithful friend - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio
By june varas - January 17 - 10:00 amI have had my royal blue vw for a little over a year now and I love it! we like going to the fla keys, miami beach, everglades, etc: anywhere you can put the top down and have fun! i have only two complaints: theres no where really to put a beverage unless your drink is in a dixie cup. and the vinyl on the door handles always peels off (i have had them replaced twice in 14 months. other than that, i love my little vw! and when the lease is up, i plan to keep her!
