  • Awesome and Fun - 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio

Great fun car to zip around town. Terrific VW stereo sounds with an easy to operate top! Car is solid for the price and drives like a German engineered car without the sticker shock!

  • I LOVE THIS CAR!!! - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio

I bought a used 2002 VW Cabrio GLX and have had it for five years - this car is awesome. I have only had it serviced at the dealer and have had no major issues with the car. I even bought the extended VW warranty - kind of feel it was a waste of money since I still havent used it. If you buy a used one just make sure you get the service records - some VWs have no issues and some have a lot - beware of someone who hides service records - they are hiding problems. If you take care of your VW It will love you for years to come!

  • So much for German Engineering! - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio

My wife purchased this car a few months before we met. Its been a fun little car to tool about town in. Handles well, gets excellent gas mileage (32 mpg in mixed city driving), and the convertible top is simple to operate. Unfortunately, the car is poorly built: Power windows dont operate properly, interior bits are falling apart, and the final straw: Total transmission failure at under 55,000 miles (5 speed manual.) Google "Self Machining Syndrome" to find out more about how some very important pieces of the drivetrain are held together with rivets! This goes for Golfs and Jettas too.

  • Open air tourning with practicality - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio

The Cabrio combines everday practicality with open air motoring pleasure. Sufficiently powerful to keep up with traffic and entertain on two-lane roads, it shines when driven on the less traveled roads. Weather-tight and well mannered on the freeway, it is the best of all motoring worlds, especially with the 5-speed transmission. If you can have only one car, this should be it. Dealer service and post-sale attention were first-rate.

The Cabrio is the most quiet convertible on the market. A six layer top!! It has a more upscale and more classy feeling than other convertibles that try to be classy and end up corny. The Cabrio is not a barnstormer when it comes to speed; but it is justified power. The car is heavy! Very nice to drive, even with the top up.

  • The Car I always wanted - 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio

I love this little car. I have an hour commute to work and it makes it fun. Evertime I see it makes me smile.

  • Loved this Car - 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio

I loved this car until it hit 40,000 miles. Since then, its cost me around $200/month just to keep it on the road. No major mechanical problems, just things like air bags, lights, and now a problem with the window regulator -- the window wont go all the way down because, apparently, they dont make the regulators fit the window frame! Still, its a fun car to drive and Ill keep it as a second vehicle -- just have to buy one to drive while this ones in the shop.

  • Getting Worried - 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
    By -

This is a fun car, an inexpensive convertible. Ive owned it for almost 5 years and thank goodness I bought an extended warranty, but Im getting worried because it expires in a few months. First the window fell out. Then the door locks went and the check engine light went on. One was covered, the other was not. They did cover the Mass Air Flow device last week for second problem. Also this week, had a bill for over $1,300 for the A/C evaporator! This should have lasted for the life of the car! The whole dash had to come out. Luckily the ext. warranty paid for $1,100 of it! My car has the same problems as some others do too... door handles, etc.

  • More wrong then right - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio

The Cabrio is a fun car. Granted, its not fast or roomy, but its been fun when it wasnt being repaired. Two trips to get the side mirrors replaced when they stoped defrosting. Two trips to get the exhaust rehung when the mid- muffler section fell off. A trip to fix the broken cd changer and another when the latch on the top failed. Yet another trip to have the interior door panels replaced. Engine stumbling has forced me to take it to the shop for the third time in a week. Even after all that I can still say I like the car. The lack of quality is the real bummer.

I dont understand why people are writing such terrible reviews, you clearly didnt get the car checked before buying it. My 2000 Cabrio is a beautiful car. It runs well, looks nice, I havent had any problems yet. And ive had it for 5 months. It has a little over 109k miles. You guys just need to take better care of your car!! (Its not a manual though, im confused why I cant choose automatic.)
