Crap - 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
By kyra.herman - March 10 - 7:03 amThis was my dream car now its my nightmare. Its possessed. The Windows never want to do what you want them to do. The car sometimes turns on with out the ac working then you have to restart it. The horn honks itself when its too hot out and its just nickel and diming me. Its cute and I can put the top down and I dont owe anything on it so thats the only reason Im still putting up with this car but as soon as I get my promotion its gone.

My Easter Basket - 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
By MissMix - December 23 - 2:00 amI cant decide if I love this car or hate it. Snow and tractor trailers are the enemy! Once the warranty expired, the problems started. MANY electrical problems and a coolant leak, so far. If Volkswagens are so reliable, why is the warranty so short? The back seat is roomy, but the front isnt. Try starting it without the wipers coming on! The interior panel material wear too quickly (door handles). With a 2.slOw, it barely gets out of its own way. Not the car to not someone off in! FAR too much wind noise on the highway. Easy parking and very easy to "transform". With the top down, it looks like an Easter basket!

Fun, Practical, Unique - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Pete3106 - November 17 - 8:10 amHave had this Cabrio since new and only had problems with window regulators - fixed under warranty. Really enjoy the solid top in all kinds of weather. Have had two of these and both have been great.

DONT BUY VW! - 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Junker!!! - October 20 - 3:06 pmI have had a hate-hate relationship w/this car. It was my dream car. Has given me problems since the day I bought it. If I hadnt bought it used it would probably classify for the Lemon Law. Catalytic converter, O2 sensor, engine light has been on, air bag light has been on. The latest is the coolant leak. I will never buy another VW EVER again. I probably wouldnt take one even if someone gave me one for free!! It has cost me thousands of dollars to keep it running and I only drive it 10000 miles a year. Cant wait to get rid of it.

NHTSA investigation candidate - 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio
By theaa - September 5 - 2:00 amLoved the car. Test drive was great. But out of the dealership problems started (the dealer being one of them) First, a bad rim. The same wheel goes flat 4 flat times. The dealer claims its not the rim - but the tier, the tier guys say exactly the opposite. Eventually, after 4 trips, the rim gets replaced, and didnt have a flat since. Then the seat warmer goes dead, buring the fuse. Dealer take 4 hours to figure that one out. Then, the last straw, the manual transmission gives while doing 65 on the highway - that was fun. if you had a similiar expirience feel free to report at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

Dont be fooled by its look, its bad! - 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Collin - July 12 - 12:30 pmI love convertibles and thought that the Cabrio would be perfect for me. This is my second one and this one is still nothing but problems. I have owned this car for about 2.5 years, and have been stranded about 7 times. Everything in the car is going and I cannot handle it anymore. I have spent more fixing this car than what its worth today (around $4,000) However, the car does does get about 35 MPG on the highway, and I love the options it comes with. DO NOT BUY IT!

Affordable Fun - 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Louie1 - May 29 - 10:00 amGreat little car - sharp looking red with a black top and black leather interior (very hot in the summer). The extra paid for the GLX is worth it! I purchased the vehicle while living in the mountains - perfect handling on those curvy mountain roads. However, now Im back in the big city and feel intimidated in my small five-speed. Back to an SUV for me!

My Cabrio ~ fun without headaches! - 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
By Martha - May 25 - 3:36 amIve had sooo many hours of fun in this zippy little convertible. Love the 5 speed transmission, lots of fun to drive. After 96000 miles, I can honestly say this car has been a dream in that it required only regular routine maintenance (oil changes, scheduled tuneups), & at about 60000 miles it needed a new muffler/pipe, & at 95000 miles two belts showed wear so I replaced them & (preventatively) the timing belt. Other than that, this car has just taken care of itself. :) The seats are a little small for someone with a bigger fanny, but otherwise comfy. The covering on the interior door handles peeled early on and i was not happy with how VW handled that. But that was the only glitch.
