the car is grat at high speed handeling and cornering. its verry fast and nimble. the accelarition is ungodly fast for the size of the motor. the enjind setup is verry unique and has alot of advantiges mainly traction on take off from a stop. the car gets awesome gas millage for a sports car around 32 m.p.g. the cars interior is small at first but in about a week you adapt to it verry comfortably. the best thing is the wind in your hair at 140mph.

You wont go wrong with this car. Looked at other sports cars in the MS2 class to feed my midlife crisis, nothing touches it for spirited driving and ease of ownership. Cant keep the rest of the family away from the car. Still get looks wherever I go.

  • Why Grow Up? - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

This car has so much going for it that its spooky. Its great fun to drive at very little cost, its as reliable as any other Toyota, and it converts from sunworship to a very tightly covered, whistle free closed car in about about 5 seconds. I love it, but my wife does too, so I dont get to drive it often enough. My son is already planning on taking it to college in 8 more years. Bravo to Toyota for executing a vision of a non-mainstream, just-for-the-fun- of-it roadster!

  • Just bought it today - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

Ive had it for 6 hours. Though its still early to rate everything, what a spectacular and fun car. Im trading down on horsepower, cargo space, and creature comforts and have no regrets. The performance of this little economic engine is surprisingly peppy.

Ladies - this car remains an ultimate guy magnet. Make sure you know whats under the hood (and that it is in the rear) because no matter where Ive parked my bright yellow MR2 Ive been approached by guys. I even had a guy ask me if he could sit in it for a minute to recall his old days before he had kids.

The most fun car weve ever owned. Its a quick and nimble ride, excellent in the SoCal canyons and amid the SUVs on the freeways. With the car so short and the wheelbase so long, its easy to park in in otherwise impossible spots, a real plus at the beach. The best of all worlds, its efficient around the city, romantic on a date, and fun on the open road.

  • Junk... Save Money and Buy Much Better - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

Ok, Im going to give the real review on this car. Ive always owned some pretty nice sports cars and after 2 years of owning this I can say its pretty much complete junk. First, the build quality on this car is incredibly poor. Everything about it. The paint is awful and chips, scratches really easily esp. black. The body panels do not line up well at all and will shift. The top will fade and become difficult to put down, you will get "ears". Headlights fade and fog very easily. The stock suspension is too high and very cheap. Brakes are just ok. Worst of all... the car is slow. Not sports car standards. And its really not that fun to drive. Remove precats or engine will blow! No joke.

  • One of the Great Sports Cars - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
    By -

I have driven most of the great sports cars: Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Lotus etc... and have been a long time fan of sports cars. This car ranks as one of the all time greats in my book. Reliability, great fuel economy and fun fun fun to drive. By definition a sports car needs to do the following: accelerate, brake and handle. The MR2 does all of this and more. It gives you a feeling of being in a go cart. Pure driving feel. The cars feedback is great. It communicates so well to the driver. The ride is a bit stiff, but hey you give to get. More horsepower would be nice, but on public roads this car allows you to tap into the fun zone even at lower speeds. Exotic sports car feel at bargain $

much fun to drive. handles like on rails. very nimble with ample acceleration. very little back-wind when top down and deflector up. could use better speakers (maybe some behind seats)and more cargo space. but, for the price, i dont think theres a match.

Id buy again, definetly used not new. Way overpriced for a new car (26k) Buy it 1 or 2 years old
