  • Greatest Car Ive ever owned - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

I rated this car a 10 in every cat.

  • Fun with clothes on! - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

Bought this as a birthday gift from me, to me. Words cant describe the amount of enjoyment driving such a unique car. Handles very well and quick. A real head turner as there are not many of them. 34+ mpg! Again a very fun, affordable, cool car! Mid-engine is very rare on an affordable sports car.

  • Ton of Fun - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

Gets more looks and comments than any other car Ive owned. With top down Ive carried HDTVs and eight foot tall shrubs! Fast, agile, absolute blast to drive. The later model has better looking front and back lamps but the 01 is essentially the same beast. Most think its a Porsche but my budget knows what it costs.

  • Alot of problems after 36000 miles - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
    By -

Replaced the lower engine at 33000 miles, warranty. Tan convertible top stains extremely easy from the environmental polutions. Front end suspension went out after 36000 miles, $400. Power steering went out at 42000 miles, $1,180. Currently a vibration/noise coming from the rear end service department says it is from a loose bumber...I need to take it to a body shop to get an estimate. The car has never been in an accident. The front end is STILL loose and Toyota claims it is set to "Factory". If so, Toyota has a problem.

  • Good as it gets - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

This is my second MR2. I owned a mkI and had to sell it because my wife said I needed a grown up cars to move my kids around in. Now they have their own rides and Im back where I belong. This is the most fun you can have with your clothes on and Im not giving this one up! Sure, theres no trunk. Big deal! I couldnt find a trunk large enough to carry the grin I wear when Im driving this car. Think of it as a motorcycle with doors and if thats what you are after the Spyder is your car.

  • First Impressions - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

These are my first impressions: This car is very fun to drive, and surprisingly roomy and comfortable inside for an avg size person. I bought it used with 8K on it. Obviously its a Porche wannabe, but some of us are not going to spend twice as much for essentially the same ride, or for a summer fun car, so I think it is a good value.

  • Unique Dependability - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

I flew to Indiana from Michigan to purchase my 2001 MR-2. I enjoy the tan leather seats and carbon fiber dash appointments. I put on special chrome wheels. Larger set of Toyos on back and Dual exhaust adapted from existing system. I have had nothing but joy when I drive. I currently have 36,000 miles on it and appreciate the great millage.

  • Great Car....Buy One Today - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

I must say that this is one of the finest little sports cars I have ever driven. I currently own a Lotus Esprit Turbo and a Triumph TR6. My MR2 is my daily driver and just as much fun to drive. To think, Lotus chose the engine and powertrain in this baby to be used in the Elise to be sold in the USA.

  • Amazingly fun! - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

This was the best purchase I ever made... this car is so much fun, I am amazed it is simply a Toyota. I still get people asking me, "what kind of Porshe is that?!"

  • Not the best, but better than many - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
    By -

Although this car has been categorized as "sports", it isnt. It lacks the power to support, "sports". What many people are complaining about I have to agree with as far as easy scratches, "ears" on my top when dropped, and fogged headlights. However, I love the interior of this car as basic and simple as it is. It has what you need, not what you want. Thats what I want. Of course it would be ideal if this car was a lexus, but it isnt. I highly recommend to purchase this car used and invest another 3k into a turbo and another 1k into suspension components. I will have spent a total of 11k into this car if I do so with the purchase price; then the car would be phenomenally fast and handling.
