Overview & Reviews
There are no changes for the Echo this year.
- Good gas mileage, speedy acceleration, roomy and functional interior, Toyota reliability.
- Cartoonish styling, annoying gauge placement, shaky handling, deceptively low base pricing.

Wonderful car to own!!!! - 2005 Toyota Echo
By recipepal - December 18 - 10:00 amI really love my Toyota Echo I purchased brand new April,2000. Its a beautiful red color that still loos brand new. Im a travel Nurse and bought it in my home town in For Lauderdale, Fl. and had it trucked out to Thousand Oaks,Ca for an assignment. It ha saved me quite a bit of money when the gas prices soared over #2.50/gallon.! Very dependable.Never worried about being stranded especially in a City 3000 miles away from my family.

I love my 2002 ECHO - 2005 Toyota Echo
By Evelyn Woods - November 27 - 6:56 pmI bought my ECHO new in Sept. 2002. I love everything about it. The only thing I would do different is buy the auto tranny rather than the 5 spd, (due to a medical condition). I get great gas milage 39 in town. I always get comments on the car wherever Im at, and I love the design of the dash. The car is reliable, quiet, very comfortable (front and rear seats), it has a lot of "get up and go", and its a Toyota. Who could ask for anything more? I have let it sit idle for a month and it starts up every time.

greatly improved suspension design - 2005 Toyota Echo
By richie - May 19 - 5:16 amThese comments apply to 3 identical new Echos purchased from July-October 05,equipped with 15" wheels,175 section tires. Fine road grip. Heavy duty roll bars completely eliminate body roll. Corners flat. Nimble power steering, very precise, goes where pointed. Crosswind stability vg- etc. Very firm ride, no float on heaving road, a little rough on bad pavement (See my "8" rating for Comfort.)(Would rate it "10" with 2 or more people,or on good roads). Shifting easy, but downshifts from 5th to 4th take a little aligning. Stoplight Grand Prix acceleration a blast, shocks the unwary.Recommended tire inflation shows up small bumps...Reducing to improve ride gives PRONOUNCED understeer on fast turns

samismom - 2005 Toyota Echo
By samismom - January 7 - 9:13 amWith gas prices rising, Im so happy with my Toy. Great for people on fixed incomes. Would consider buying another one when the time comes. Great in snow 1 foot or less. Front seat nice and high especially for elderly, and people with problems from the waist down, especially disabled transferring from wheelchair to car.

best economy car for the buck! - 2005 Toyota Echo
By Thomas Collins - October 9 - 8:09 amI had a Honda 1999 civic before this and I spent $3000. On services just to keep it right. These echos just need oil changes. More room higher off ground for flood areas better mpg quieter. You have to neglect the car to have a problem. 30mpg city. Easy to drive and park. I had a 2005 corolla and it was falling apart . Sad. I know when I walk out to my echo it is going to take me where Im going with no problems. These cars were built right. 200k miles easy. No timing belt bs. At 113k now only needs front rotors replaced. Perfect for city or long distance. I would drive it anywhere anytime year.

love my Echo - 2005 Toyota Echo
By Marika - October 5 - 3:13 pmThere is no getting around it, I just love this car - and expect a lot of attention when you drive it. Other owners will wave furiously, and whenever I come out of the mall, there will be someone looking at it and wanting to ask questions

Luv my Echo - 2005 Toyota Echo
By alienlady - May 28 - 10:00 amIve had my echo since Jan 02 and i have never had a problem! Gas milege is great, even though it looks small it has alot of room inside, the only thing it doesnt really have good pick up speed.
