This Year's Model Updates:

In an effort to get buyers under 30 into its dealerships, Toyota launches an all-new division called Scion. The brand will eventually grow to three models, but for now two are offered, one of these a boxy, attention-getting vehicle called the xB. Scion will use a no-haggle sales strategy and give buyers ample opportunity to customize their xBs, drawing upon a list of over three dozen dealer-installed options.

Pros:
  • Massive interior for its size, unusual mini-truck styling, long list of standard equipment, comes with stability control, handles well for a budget-priced vehicle.
Cons:

the first time i seen this car on the street i wanted one, now that i have one im very happy with the "XB" version. if you want alot of attention, i suggest you get this vehicle! i get stopped all the time by people, i even got pulled over by a police officer just to tell me how unique and stylish my scion is... but if you want my opinion pay a little bit more money and get it fully equipt, you wint be sorry.

I got an extra $400.00 for being a recent college grad. I was driving a full size GMC P/U 8 cylinder and it was big & gommy to drive. Thscion xB is so much fun to drive & the mileage is awesome. I did my first test drive in the xb with a automatic but it was a little sluggish so I ordered a manual tranny. the standard tranny is much more peppy. The shifting is still a little stiff but I am sure it will be better after I put some miles on it.This car is affordable & loaded with cool standard features.

This is not the best time to review; Ive had the car less than a week. It is a WONDERFUL vehicle. I was going to get a Subaru Forester, but thought I should be honest and look at some others first. This was one of them. Test drive: Instant decision. Unlike most Toyotas the seats fit my body comfortably. The seats fold down to make a flat surface from tail to dash -- perfect for my 12-foot kayak for short trips to the nearest put-in. I am in the Southeast Toyota region, so I got cruise control. They also have roof rack (actually a Yakima: no complaint there). The first car I have ever had that I actually enjoy driving.

Great car for the money. Lots of leg room, seats are high making entrance and exiting the car easy. Not fast but not as bad as I thought it would be. I got 38 miles per gallon on hwy.

I purchased this car for my business. I drive around 800 miles a week and needed something comfortable and economical. This car fit my needs. I didnt want a standard run of the mill car. I wanted to buy American, but nothing had the combination of gas mileage and looks.

My Thundercloud Blue Metallic B was the first one ordered and delivered to the MIDWEST via Molle Toyota, KC, Mo. Ordered it with AEM, H-strut, security system, amber footlights, and chrome doorsills. I added an armrest this past year, it wasnt available in 2003. It gets between 29 (summer heat) and 36 MPG. I only drive 5 miles to work, but it will double next year to 10. I use it weekends for short trips, chores, jaunts under 200 miles; drive it roundtrip once a month to St. Joe MO. My wife loves it - after I got the armrest. I expect to drive it as a commuter until I retire next decade... unless a better B comes along! My only problem with it was a broken drivers door latch, which was fixed under warranty.

This is a very fun car to drive. Its very unique and it stands out from every other car in the parking lot. It has a good weight to power ratio, so the 108hp does the job. Ofcourse you could always add cold air intake for a few more horsepower.

I wanted a van w/o the huge size so I bought an xB. It fits me to a "T." It is fairly comfy for long trips, not too noisy and easy to drive. It fits my dog and two passengers plus our luggage, or me plus 3 HS Football players and their equipment with legroom to spare. I hope itll last at least 16 more years!

Being 17 years old, I wanted a car that was eye catching, had a good level of performance, had good gas mileage, and was easy to modify. I found exactly what I wanted with the Scion xB. There is nothing else on the road that offers so many standard features combined with style and quality. Acceleration is adequate and the engine is peppy. The interior is quiet and the ride is supple. Handling is pretty good for the size and dimensions of the vehicle and quality is Toyota-like. The xB rocks!

The other reviews say it all. Decent performance, good handling, huge interior. Only quibbles are lack of cruise control and no door stops... when you park on a hill, you have to hold the door to keep it from closing on your legs. Every other car in the world has a point in the arc of the door where it stops to prevent this from happening. Perhaps not so important in Kansas, but very irritating in San Francisco.
