This Year's Model Updates:

The Scion xB has been redesigned for 2008. Though the second generation of this compact wagon maintains the boxy shape that made the original a cult favorite, the xB's exterior is softer and more rounded this year. More importantly, the xB is now larger, roomier and features a much more robust engine. The interior has been improved as well, highlighted by an impressive array of high-tech audio choices.

Pros:
  • Long standard features list, strong four-cylinder engine, large passenger and cargo space, audiophile-friendly stereos, styling some people love.
Cons:
  • Styling some people find ugly, center-mounted gauges are hard to see, no telescoping steering wheel.

  • Fun to Drive - 2008 Scion XB

This is my first "small" vehicle, I have had a Dodge Durango for the past 10 years, mostly for the towing ability. This car is great and fun to drive. I am a 400 pound guy and I have plenty of room. Gas mileage is very good. The ride is much better than I expected. Plenty of get up and go and a quiet ride. The sound system is good with plenty of power. I just ordered the XM receiver.

Great execution of safety, space, comfort, economy, quality build, and std. features for price! I first saw them Mother’s Day weekend, I thought "for real", then I actually drove it and I thought "cool". Then I loaded it up with the family and a 300 lb salesman and test drove it, I thought "WOW, I am impressed!" That is coming from someone whose last car was a Mini Cooper S. Smooth and quiet ride (not as sophisticated as an Accord or Camry, but I prefer driving the xB over my wifes 07 Accord). Handling is at or above expectations for a spacious car. Avg 26 mpg on 1st tank w/ a lot of idling, currently, at 32 mpg on LA FWY driving. Way cool!

EXCELLENT build, mileage, performance, and quality in ITS CLASS. Keep that in mind. My wife traded in her Chrysler T&C and she fell in love with this car. We have two kids and its so roomy. The windshield is huge and impressive. The bigger engine helps pull this small car in traffic. Its about the same size as a BMW X3 and had gotten positive comments from family and friends who never liked the previous models. Im more of an Acura guy and I have to give respect to this Scion. I would purchase it. Always test drive first.

  • great little used car - 2008 Scion XB

Happy with it PROS: great little short distance commuter. nice simple interior. simple easy to clean exterior. smooth auto trans. nice strong 2.4 engine. very reliable once you replace or update its weak cooling system and weak brakes. strong a/c system. CONS: cheaply built car. cheap interior pieces. mpg is only so so. paint and exterior trim is weak. suspension is a little bumpy. not a long distance freeway car. cant take abuse got this for about 6800.00 cash. the cheaper you get it the better. then upgrade the weak cooling system and braking system. runs about 600.00. if you can afford it. move up to a 2010 and up used model. they were more reliable cars.

  • Great Family Car - 2008 Scion XB

I love my car. Easy for moms to get kids in and out. The headlights are a pain. It has a distinct line in your vision where it all the sudden goes from light to pitch black. Not good for traveling to places youve never been cause you cant see road names until you are right up on them. But for everyday around the town driving its great.

  • Excellent Car - 2008 Scion XB

I cant believe these neg comments about this Scion XB. They must work for the UAW in Detroit? The 2.4 ltr 4 cyl is the best 4 cyl on the market. I had that same engine in my 2004 Toyota Solara and my daughter is now driveing it with over 200k mi and not one problem. My 08 XB has been 100% no problem. I have the 5speed trans, and average 27 city and 32 highway. I put Michelin MXV4 tires on and the ride is perfect. Love the car and dont believe these neg comments. I Dont!!

  • Excellent, Reliable, Economical Vehicle - 2008 Scion XB

Purchased a 2008 Scion XB with 48000 miles in 3/2009 and have put 195000 miles on it in just under 5 years. I have not had any problems with this car and it is still driving like new. The key to this longevity is to keep up on the maintenance and to take care of the car. I drive over 50000 highway miles per year and get an average of 25 to 28 mpg. Good job XB.

  • Much improved xb for 2008 - 2008 Scion XB
    By -

I upgraded from my 2007 "2006" xb. I could not achieve the 30-34 mpg. I averaged 26 mpg, so i went for the 2008 for the performance. It gets the claimed 23 mpg. It is a camry drivetrain and platform, and it rides like a camry. Good acceleration. Smooth ride. All the bells and whistles that were only options in the 06. Are present in the 08. Bigger rear storage area.

  • This is the one!! - 2008 Scion XB

This car is simply said as, "Well Built". I love the overall package. My vehicle is white. I placed after-market 20" chrome rims. My ride is a definite eye catcher. Riding on rims will always make a little more noise over stock rims. But it is small sacrifice for large rewards. And best of all, its a Toyota. "Another one for the good guys". Enough said.

  • A fun step down to a smaller vehicle. - 2008 Scion XB
    By -

I purchased this vehicle after happily owning a series of Toyota 4Runners over the past 17 years. I wanted something that cost less and provided better mileage but I did not want to sacrifice Toyota quality or reliability. Ive been more than satisfied with the Xb. Its a fun car to drive with plenty of power and great handling with lots of room.
