This Year's Model Updates:

In an effort to get buyers under 30 into its dealerships, Toyota launches an all-new division called Scion. The brand will eventually grow to three models, but for now two are offered, one of these a boxy, attention-getting vehicle called the xB. Scion will use a no-haggle sales strategy and give buyers ample opportunity to customize their xBs, drawing upon a list of over three dozen dealer-installed options.

Pros:
  • Massive interior for its size, unusual mini-truck styling, long list of standard equipment, comes with stability control, handles well for a budget-priced vehicle.
Cons:

Thats the best way I can describe it. I recently gave up my beautiful Saab 9-3 convertible when I came to the realization that there were more important things to spend my money on. Wanting to spend as little as possible, but not wanting to be stuck with a boring econo-box, I fell in love with the ugly little xB. I do not exaggerate when I say that I have gotten more positive comments in 2 weeks of having this car than in the time that I had the Saab that cost 3xs as much. The gas mileage is great, it handles well, I can throw my bike in the back, and its a Toyota, so I feel confident that it will be running for a long time. What more could I ask for?

Absolutely love it. However I guess I may have busted Toyotas young culture theroy wide open as I am a 51 year old man. I have the AT version and I dont get all the fuss about nonperformance. The box is fun to drive on winding runs and although not a pocket rocket seems to get to Interstate speed adequately. Seats are more than comfortable and the rest of the standard features are great. BTW my wife loves it too!

Its a car that has definitely got many people in the Virginia Beach area intrigued thats for sure. People just cant get over the design and roomy interior of "the box." The drive is real smooth with the occasional feel for bumps. The strut bar I got has really made cornering a thing of beauty. All of the lighting options inside the car have caught the attention of many, not to mention the single speedometer display. The sound quality is excellent with 3 sound settings and the "hear" setting is like nothing Ive ever heard. I can hear it thumping on the outside with factory Pioneer speakers. Definitely a crowd pleaser and a good family car as well.

The cars Styling was what first caught my attention because it was different. So upon further investigation I came to realize that it wasnt just a neet look it was in fact a Toyota. The vehicle meets many needs there is room for my children, dog (in back) and even if you are 65" you can sit comfortably in the back seat. The milage is 35 highway, the list of standard options is unbeliavable for 14,500.00. Bravo Toyota, Bravo Indeed !!!

  • Just Crashed my 2004 Scion XB - 2004 Scion XB

I wrecked my 2004 XB 4/18/08. Front head-on crash with a midsize Dodge pick-up. Air bags popped. My XB is a right-off! Crumple zones worked as designed. There was no intrusion into the passenger area at all. I walked away with only seat belt marks and a bump on my right shin. My 4 year old son was in the back seat in his child seat and only had a shoulder belt mark and was okay. Im a 41 year old commercial pilot and liked the styling (in Japan a lot) with a practical Corolla drive line. Im looking for another 2004/05 XB ASAP.

I got my Scion in October. This is a great car for any age range. For teenagers theres a great soundsystem that comes standard, and tons of room for friends. For people that like to travel, it has great fuel economy and the rear bench seat is removable for extra space. Taller people have lots of head space, and their long legs are not crammed. Its great to drive, & so quiet. It may not have a big engine, but its got a lot of zip when you need it.

  • Pretty cool ride, but nothing flashy - 2004 Scion XB
    By -

Ive had my xB for about 6 months now, and its a great get around town car. Weve taken it on a couple of road trips (nothing flashy, just a 5 hour drive up the coast), and it can get a bit uncomfortable after a while, but what car doesnt? Good gas mileage, decent get-up-and-go, and a very cool sound system with lots of upgradables if wanted. Defenitely worth the price!! One note: get the cold air intake! It takes away the air conditioning torque deficit.

This is our first "NEW" car in many years. Since we are much older (44 and 38) then the target demographic, we were initally turned off by the odd shape of the car. Once we took it for a drive, we were sold. With a great combination of passenger and cargo room, good fuel economy, proven Toyota reliability and a great "out the door" price, whats not to like. Its always a great conversation starter everywhere we go!
