This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Scion xB receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xB wagon offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. In other news, the xB's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Pros:
  • Massive interior for its size, unusual mini-truck styling, long list of standard equipment, standard stability control, handles well for a budget-priced vehicle.

  • So far, oh so good - 2006 Scion XB

When the Scion xB was first introduced I did not like the style, however the more I have seen them the more they grew on me. After test driving it I change my mind. The right color, Black Cherry, makes this car.

  • PERFECT CAR - 2006 Scion XB

This has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I am so happy with its roominess and fun drivability, Oh and I only paid only $14,000 for it. Its worth every penny.

  • Fun to drive - 2006 Scion XB

I traded in my luxury van for better mileage. At first I thought I had made a mistake because I have had vans for 14 years so this was a big jump backwards at first thought. Ive driven it for a few days now and I actually like it, the mileage is great and its fun to drive. Thought this was only for the younger crowd but everyone I see driving it is my age (almost 40) or older. Glad I made the decision to buy a Scion xB I think Ill be real happy when I finally need gas!

  • xB = Fun - 2006 Scion XB

The xB is fun to drive in the way that my VW van was fun to drive. It has lots of room inside and it is cheap to run. Load it up and go to the beach, or river or whereever.

  • My Little Boxter - 2006 Scion XB

From the first time I saw this little boxy car, I knew I had to have one. I sold a 2000 Lexus ES 300 for my Scion XB and I dont regret it one bit!

  • I love this Box - 2006 Scion XB

Ok, at first I was a little skeptical to buy this car because it kinda looked like a toaster, but so many things grew on me after awhile when I saw the gas mileage, loads of interior room and endless acessories. This car is truly the real deal. On an 11.9 gallon tank this car can go on the highway about 325 miles roughly...at least thats what I calculated. I get so many compliments on this car. I just tell em you gotta drive it to really believe it.

  • Follow-up review - 2006 Scion XB

I have had my xB for 6 months and 7,000 miles and thought an extended use report may be useful to some. Still love my xB. I have taken a couple of road trips and it has done great. I did customize my car with factory upgrades and it still turns heads going down the road. People of all ages give me compliments. Its gas mileage is good, I average about 32 mpg in town and 36 on the interstate. This car can carry a good amount of luggage (fold down rear seats) for trips involving 2-3 people. It has lots of head and leg room. The only problem I have involves build quality. My rear seat makes a noise in the upright position. Also, I get an annoying vibration from the front seat belts where they adjust up and down.

  • I Love my Toaster - 2006 Scion XB

The Scion xB is affordable, fun to drive, and unusual. This may be the best car Ive ever owned, all things considered.

  • 1,500 mile review - 2006 Scion XB

To review this car, you must put things in perspective. This is a $15,000 car and not a luxury car. My scores are based upon this. It is pretty roomy and comfortable, gets good mileage if driven sensibly, has stylish looks, Toyota quality (hopefully), and sufficient performance, etc... Are you going to blow anybody off of the road? No, but dont buy this car for that reason. This is reliable transportation with pretty good gas mileage, that is funky, stylish, and fun to drive. That said, I think that this is one of the best auto buys out there. If the auto makers get serious about small cars and mileage in this country, then there might be some competition, but until then; Scion seems to top the list.

  • loved it... so we purchased 2 xBs - 2006 Scion XB
    By -

My wife and I each have an xB. They are roomy on the inside, very dependable, and quite fun to drive.even though Scion aims for the younger generation. I am 56 and the wife is over 50. These little "toasters" are much easier for the older drivers and passengers to enter and exit. Parking is a snap. Its as easy as a golf cart. although it does not have a "luxury ride" the "Toaster" will do what retirees need without breaking the bank (even on a fixed income). The fit and finish are superior to nearly any car on the market, reguardless of price. The xB is an excellent value both in purchase price and cost of operation. I highly recommend at least driving the xB before purchasing any similar vehicle.
