Overview & Reviews
Pontiac redesigns the Grand Prix for 1997, giving buyers slick new styling, a longer and wider wheelbase and supercharged V6 power on GTP models. Traction control, antilock brakes, dual airbags and side-impact protection are standard. Optional is a built-in child safety seat.
- Styling, performance, standard dual airbags, standard anti-lock brakes, standard traction control
- No traction control when GTP Package is ordered. Base engine could use more oomph.

Update! - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By 3800 V6 - July 28 - 10:46 amI wrote a review about 3 years ago when I first got the car. It now has 210,000 miles and seldom has to go in the shop. I usually get 24-26 MPG, but on long trips Ive gotten 34 (really). It has never left me on the side of the road, but I did have to make some costly repairs when I first got it. I might buy an 07 or 08 soon, so I thought Id update my comments!

Loved this car! - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Spirit711 - July 17 - 3:33 amI bought this car with 17,000 miles on it as a program car. Its absolutely been the best car Ive ever owned. I have 76,000 on it now and I doubt if Ive put over $1,000 in it, including regular maintenance. Its time to think about buying a new one, but I keep trying to wait until something goes wrong with this car, and it just keeps going and going!

Great car to own - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By marlene - March 26 - 9:33 amThis is the first time I have ever done a review but I wanted people to know that Pontiac Grand Prix was a blast. I purchased the car in 1998 with 30,000 miles on it. I have never had any problems other than replacing the alternator several times and the usual brakes and oil. Last week the car was at 323,800 when the car finally gave up. I have owned the car for 12 years going from coast to coast in it for family vacations. It will be truly missed.
