  • Nice car, sorry to see Olds stop product - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

My wife and I bought the car new in Oct 98 and have 61000 miles on it. I am sorry to see them no longer making Oldsmobile. I never wanted an Oldsmobile product because they were always so old looking (elderly peeps car). The intrigue has been great for us and we are a family of four. We have had the car 5 years with no problems but standard maintenance. The dash heats up if you drive a lot at night from the lighting but other than that no problems at all.

  • One owner car for 10 years - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

I bought this car new, put 60K on it in three years, gave it to wife who put 40K on it in 4 years, and my two high school/college kids put the last 30K on it in three years. Overall a very good car. Drive train is great with the Series II V6 and a strong tranny. A lot of electrical problems over the years. The interior has disintegrated and all the plastic stuff is broken. The windshield wipers have been a problem. The A/C crashed after 6 years and was too expensive to fix so weve done without. I feel like Ive gotten my money out of it so Im trading it in. If I found a clean one used, Id buy it for the kids.

  • It Only It Had Been Called A Cutlass. . - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

So when we walked away from the alleged Cutlass in 1998, the dealer guided us towards the Intrigue. "Youll love it," he said, and he was right. Almost six years later, with minimal maintenance (read: normal) required, I have to ask the question: if this had been named the Cutlass, and was available in a coupe, youd still be seeing the Oldsmobile brand under the GM umbrella. This car is every bit as fun to drive now as it was new, and I truly wish GM would have realized what a tremendous opportunity it had with this car.

  • Love it - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

I have had my Intrigue since new since 98. it is now 8 years old and is still chugging along. I had to replace the brakes, tires, steering rack, front hubs, and ball joints. the radiator is next. My car has 166,000 miles, so I cant complain. I wish the fuel economy was a little better. stereo upgrades were a sinch with the stuff that I got from crutchfield. I would buy another one today if the one that I have died.

  • Always Reliable, Never Exceptional - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

Buying the Intrigue was an easy decision. The car was the nicest to look at in its class, it had a gutsy engine, reasonable interior and it was affordable. Since buying this car it hasnt spent more than a few hours in the shop for regular oil changes, tire rotations et al. The only problems Ive had with this car is keeping it clean! Never before have I had such a hard time keeping the inside of a car clean... it attracts dirt like no other car Ive owned.

  • Keeps going and going - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

Ive owned this car for about 3 years now. When it was bought it only had around 56000 miles on it. The car now has over 207000 miles on it.My experience with this car has been a very pleasant one to say the least. This car has not had any major mechanical problems involving either the engine or other wise. I’ve driven many miles in this car it has never let me down no matter the situation. The vehicle has its faults, but they are minor at best and should not detract from this vehicle especially if your the type that likes to have a car that can handle the miles in better than decent comfort and with impeccable reliability.

  • Great Car - Fun 2 drive - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

This is a great car. Bought it with 50,000, put on 75,000 more miles and still going with only minor repairs to steering box. 3800 continues to be GMs best motor ever. Super power and handling. Sure-footed on snow and ice. One of the best cars I have ever had.

  • Great Car - Fun 2 drive! - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

This is a great car - the 3800 engine is dependable, and powerful. Handles like a sports car, only with a good ride. I bought this car with 50,000 and put another 75,000 miles on with only minor repairs. Super sturdy on snow and ice. OVERALL one of the best cars ever

  • SILVER BULLET - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Fun to drive, never had any problems on the road. From the Mackinac Bridge in Northern Michigan to West Palm Beach in South Florida, the safest and most reliable car I have ever owned.

  • Kinda love it, kinda hate it - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

I bought this car cause the dealership I worked at gave me a good deal. $4200 at 62,000 miles, traded in by an old guy who never drove it. Was skeptical since its GM and I prefer Japanese cars. So far everything has been fine though! The body dents really easily though, especially the fenders. Had to replace all power window motors two weeks after I bought it. Serpentine belt snapped at 70k. Interior has held up! Nice leather, heater and a/c work, plenty of power! A lot more reliable than I had expected.
