This Year's Model Updates:

The 2008 Nissan Rogue is an all-new compact crossover SUV.

Pros:
  • Very carlike driving experience, supple ride, well-crafted interior, comfy front seats, excellent brakes, sweet-sounding optional Bose stereo.
Cons:
  • Less cargo capacity and versatility than some other compact crossovers, standard CVT is a poor match for the engine, impaired outward visibility.

  • Nice, but other better options - 2008 Nissan Rogue

I found the interior ergonomics of this vehicle to be quite annoying. The window\doorlock switches on the door armrest sits a few inches too far back and cannot be operated without lifting your arm off of the door rest and reaching back. The side view mirror adjustment switch is literally under the dashboard and requires you to lean forward to operate. The lever to slide the seat forward and back is too far down and recessed. Visibility out of the rear window is worse than most because the window is smaller, slanted, and the rear of the vehicle is higher than drivers position. Cargo room is smaller than RAV4 or Outlander. I have owned other Nissans and loved them, but not the Rogue.

I have a 2008 Rogue. Have had for five years. Having acceleration problems. After driving on hwy..then stop at a stop sign..will not go. Very scary!!!! If you put a bad part on a car...they should fix it..no matter what! It had to do with the CVT Transmission

  • Did Not Last - 2008 Nissan Rogue

My 2008 Nissan Rogue was great the first 2 years I had it. Into my second year of owning this vehicle, the transmission died. There was a 60,000 mile warranty on the transmission originally, but Nissan upgraded the warranty to 120,000 miles due to the problems these transmissions were having. Nissan replaced the transmission, but the car was never the same. The car couldnt handle a 40 mile trip without losing power. After driving about 40 miles and exiting the freeway, the car did not want to accelerate. After that, the air bag light began blinking. found out that this repair costs about $1600. This car seemed to have problems every couple months. I ended up trading my 2008 Nissan Rogue for a 2013 Ford Edge.

I have a 2008 Rogue ALS. This car has been taken to the dealership several times, and the dealership says nothing is wrong. My car was under warranty and the transmission was slipping, they said nothing is wrong. Now the car is not under warranty and I cannot even drive it. I have pushed the pedal to the floor and barely go. The dealership now wants to charge to look at it and our dealership is closing and they cannot do anything out it. My car is a 2008 model and has only 52,000 miles. A car this new should not have problems like this. I fully intend to call Nissan and complain. They are not customer oriented. We bought two cars from them within a months time.

  • CVT Failed at 133,608 miles - 2008 Nissan Rogue
    By -

I liked the car and even have recommended it before. I wish I could take all those recommendations back. My car had an initial grinding noise that came from the transmission. After many trips to the dealer and hearing there was no problem, I finally learn there is a software problem and a fix would be forthcoming. I got the patch on 11/30/09, 20 months after buying the car. My transmission failed in heavy highway traffic on 10/20/14. After the patch Nissan extended the warranty on the CVT to 120k miles. Mine failed shortly after that and cost me 1000.00. Seems like Nissan really knew how to pick a cutoff for their extension so as to maximize cost to the customer.

  • HAD FOR 3 DAYS and the transmission needs replaced - 2008 Nissan Rogue

my car is in the shop -/+ 92,000, I should have read all these reviews but I needed a car and wasted 9000$ thank god there was an extended warranty in the vehicle. but its up soon and I am so scared this car will cause an accident and now I dont want to drive it. I really hope this helps someone deciding on a car do not impulse buy read this and save money. its worth it in the long run.

  • Poor Seats and Bad Gas Mileage - 2008 Nissan Rogue
    By -

I bought my 2008 FWD Rogue a week ago. I am so disappointed. I commute 60 miles round trip via Interstate to work, so little of my mileage is in town. I am lucky to get 23 mpg. I dont drive super fast, usually anywhere between 60 and top out at 80 on rare occasions. I see reviews on here of people getting fantastic gas mileage. I dont understand why mine is so poor! Any ideas? My gas costs have gone up $100/month (projected) and I had not planned for that kind of an increase! The seats for me are very uncomfortable. My upper back has no support. The upper part of the seat leans back too far for me and I find myself in pain. Terrible time seeing out the back - dangerous to back up!

  • Very Big Disappointment - 2008 Nissan Rogue
    By -

Sorry to report that after 40 days of ownership, I have been able to drive my new Rogue less than 600 miles. Car wasnt properly prepped so it spent one day in service. Air bag control module and sensor went bad, 9 days in service awaiting back ordered part. Average city and highway mileage is about 19 MPG but cant be addressed according to dealer until 1000 mile break in period. Adage "looks arent everything" certainly applies here.

  • Major Rogue Transmission problem - 2008 Nissan Rogue
    By -

I want to get the message out to all those considering buying a Rogue..DONT DO IT!! There are countless people out there myself included who after 3000 miles are having major transmission problems. Nissan is aware of the issue but cannot fix it. They know its in the transmission but they dont know what it is. Theyve replaced transmissions just to have the car come back. If you have one, what you will hear is a rattling noise when slowing down < 10 MPH. After a while it will start doing it at all speeds as mine is.

  • Dont do the recall - 2008 Nissan Rogue
    By -

We were satisfied with our vehicle until we had a transmission recall performed. The week of thanksgiving, drove from SE Ok to Atl., Ga. averaged 27-32 mpg. After returning home, took to local Nissan dealer for the recall, returned to Atl. the very next day, average mileage was 20-24 mpg. They call me a liar said it is impossible They lie
