This Year's Model Updates:

The 2008 Nissan Rogue is an all-new compact crossover SUV.

Pros:
  • Very carlike driving experience, supple ride, well-crafted interior, comfy front seats, excellent brakes, sweet-sounding optional Bose stereo.
Cons:
  • Less cargo capacity and versatility than some other compact crossovers, standard CVT is a poor match for the engine, impaired outward visibility.

  • CVT failed for us too! Never buy Nissan! - 2008 Nissan Rogue

We bought our 2008 Nissan Rogue SL new at the dealership and the transmission failed at 50K miles. It was replaced under warranty. Since then, our warranty has expired (130K miles now). Now, the new CVT has also failed and we have to pay out of pocket to fix it. The drive shaft also failed as did the A/C compressor. Weve put over $5K into this car in repairs since hitting 120K miles. Save yourself the money and frustration and dont buy this car or any Nissan for that matter. If you already own one, sell it before you lose all your money. This thing is a piece of junk with a warranty that conveniently expires shortly before the CVT fails for good. Argh.

Traded in a 03 xterra, for the rogue. Thought I could save on gas. xterra was getting 16 - 18 mpg. rogue looked like a good choice, but after three fills mpg was 17 at best with 50/50 city/highway driving. long story short, I love my new 08 xterra and someone else will be getting a good deal on a USED rogue.

  • Awesome, Comfortable, Fun to Drive!!! - 2008 Nissan Rogue

I traded the Hyundai tucson GLS and have not had the first regret. the Rogue is fun to drive, easy on the wallet, and great at the gas pumps! I wish Nissan had these two years ago and I would never have purchased the Hyundai.

  • Love My Nissan Rogue - 2008 Nissan Rogue

I bought my Rogue in November and have loved it ever since. I get about 24MPG on the road, and up to 30MPG highway. People stop and ask me about my car, they say it looks like a little Murano, or Lexus RX. Im having a great time driving my rogue around town, to the mountains, beach, everywhere!

  • Rogue - nice tool around town CUV - 2008 Nissan Rogue

After 1200 miles the car is avg 26.1 MPG which is one of the reasons we bought this CUV. The ride is good for such a small CUV. Downsized from a 03 MDX. Overall the car is fun to drive, smooth CVT (do not use paddle shifters), the displays and controls are located in logical areas. The leather seats are comfortable, the sound system is more than adequate.

  • Gotta Try the Rogue - 2008 Nissan Rogue

I had owned two Altimas before purchasing the Rogue. I enjoyed my Altimas - never had any trouble, but the Rogue is a BLAST! I purchased the SL with moonroof, wind deflector, Bose with the dark interior. The Rogue has a luxury look to it and drives as good as it looks. Very happy with my purchase!!!

  • Couldnt be happier - 2008 Nissan Rogue

I got the Gotham Gray with the premium package, splash guards, bumper protector, roof rails upgraded floor mats. I find myself finding excuses to go out for a ride. It has all the features I was looking for and the price I could afford. You dont think you are driving a SUV until you look in the rearview mirror. I am extremely happy with my decision.

  • "This Car ROCKS!" - 2008 Nissan Rogue

This car is quick for a 4 cylinder! We took it out on a test drive and by the time we merged with traffic we had hit 80. It is smooth riding, roomy, none of that shift surge you get with geared car, in fact the "pro" reviewer said he could hear the engine rev up, and be noisy; when you accelerated. We heard none of that. No run up in RPM. This vehicle is a pleasure to drive. The car is for my wife. She had an expedition with an 8 cylinder and she was afraid the Rogue was going to be underpowered. NO WAY, she was a happy camper after the test drive.

  • Somewhat disappointed - 2008 Nissan Rogue

Transmission had to be replaced after only 8,000 miles. Hope it gets put back without any "new" service provided surprises. Some road noise. Ill try undercoating. Good ride and handling. Fuel economy better than advertised. 26 MPG overall. 32 mpg at 55 mph, 28 at 70 mph. I believe that there is enough power to slow engine to 2000 rpm at 70 mph and improve highway milage with CVT. Rear visibility is a problem. Wide angle stick ons on outside mirror helps. Some engine and air conditioning compressor noise.
