  • Transmission Problem - 2004 Nissan Quest

This vehicle replaces a 1995 Quest Van. This is a nice vehicle which drives smoothly and has good acceleration. I presently have a problem with intermittent failure of the transmission to shift after starting. The vehicle has twice started in 3rd gear and refused to upshift or downshift. I took it to the dealership who called Nissan for help in solving this problem. According to the service manager Nissan says this is a known problem which they do not have a solution for yet. I reserve judgement on this van until I see if Nissan can fix this problem. On the bright side, turning the vehicle off and restarting restores the transmission to normal function.

This is the second Quest that I have owned. My other one was 99 and this one has it beat by a mile. It took no time at all to get use to the new features.

  • Bitter lemons!!! - 2004 Nissan Quest

We bought this car new in 2004, we immediately started having problems! Rattling back seat which was recalled and the dealers fix for this on our expensive new car was...duct tape! Seriously?! Then the sliding door started rattling, the rubber strip above the side door flew off while driving. Have replaced brakes numerous times, the front windows get stuck when it rains!, the console is made of some cheap material that doesnt wear well, the lights and vents randomly fall out of the ceiling! The timing chain guides broke and the power steering pressure hose broke and it just sucks!!! Waist of $ what a lemon!

  • Good Van that Needs Some Improvement - 2004 Nissan Quest

Nissan had the right idea with this Van but they failed in execution. If the quality problems (rattling, paint chipping) were addressed prior to release it would be an EXCELLENT van but instead it is a good van as long as you dont mind going to see the dealer often.

  • Quest raises bar for mini-vans - 2004 Nissan Quest

Considering the old Quest model, the 2004 model is even more amazing. The design, style, convenience and driving experience sets a new mark for mini-van quality. For those searching for a safer more comfortable means of transportation than the SUV without the drab of your fathers mini-van, the Quest is the ticket! Can Honda keep the pace?

  • Nice Mini-Van - 2004 Nissan Quest

An excellent vehicle with all the bells and whistles. I have found nothing yet that is disappointing. Peppy and stylish for a minivan!

  • Good minivan option with minor quirks - 2004 Nissan Quest

Weve had our Qwest SE for 4 months. Its comfortable and drives well. We can fit plenty of stuff and the styling is attractive to us. The additional features of the SE (5 speed, sky lights, leather, etc.) are nice. All the electrical widgets (auto doors etc.) still work fine and our 1.5 year old likes the DVD. On the down side, fuel economy stinks, no where near what they advertise. Poor interior build quality, the back of the van rattled like a 1991 Econoline industrial version within a week of taking it home. Also, our van came with running boards. They look cool, but I dont like them. The van is so close to the ground, it gets in the way.

Where to start. Had the van a month, the 6 disc cd player died, ive replaced it 4 times since. Replaced brakes and rotors every year. Power sliding doors have their own mind, theyll open when they want. Sun roof leaks. Had to replace cam shaft position censor only to find out it need a new computer! Everyone said how reliable Nissans are, well the motor might never die, but everything else around it will! I will never own another Nissan and im telling everyone i know not to get one either!

  • Everything I Expected - 2004 Nissan Quest

My wife and I compared several of the leading minivans before buying our Quest. The engine/transmission performance was a major selling point. We also preferred the handling of the Quest over its competitors. The overall styling is superb inside and out. While the centered speedometer is different, glancing at the speedometer became as natural as glancing at the rear-view mirror. The turning radius is larger than my saturn which made navigating in parking lots a challenge. The gas mileage is reasonable for a vehicle of this size. It is more roomy than its competitors. We really like the power rear hatch and side door. The stereo also produces great sound.
