This Year's Model Updates:

Enhancements for the 2005 Nissan 350Z include a standard tire-pressure monitor, heated outside mirrors and a driver-seat height adjuster for both front and rear portions of the bottom cushion. Clutch pedal effort has been reduced this year, and the five-speed automatic transmission now features downshift rev matching. The navigation system has a faster processor for improved route calculation times. A special 35th Anniversary edition includes 18-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, front chin spoiler, rear spoiler, available two-tone leather seats and a choice of three exterior colors, including a new Ultra Yellow. A slight bump in horsepower is also part of the package.

Pros:
  • Smooth and powerful V6 engine, excellent handling, available drop-top version, a bargain compared to anything that can run with it.
Cons:
  • Rough ride on Track model, some low-grade interior materials, lack of luggage space, poor rearward visibility.

Had my Z for almost a week and so far i am very impressed with the car. Two things that anybody who is looking into this car should keep in mind is 1) this is a heavy car for being a 2 seater, somewhat reminds me of a mustang i used to own 2) with a car capable of such high performance being driven on the street, it takes a lot of restraint to not get into a lot of trouble with the law enforcers. You should test drive this car if you think you can live without any substantial trunk space. If you are looking for a primary vehicle and you know that you will not be able to cary enough in the divided back of this car, dont drive it. Driving this car leads to buying this car.

  • Fun to Drive - 2005 Nissan 350Z

Just got back on a trip of 5,150 miles and enjoyed the driving experience in my 2004 Nissan 350Z. I was supprised at the amount of luggage was able to get in the car. I was gone 16 days and had clothes left. Im 61 years old and have driven Cadillacs most of the time, but this one was more fun to drive on the road on long trips. I have heard that a there have been complaints about the visibility in the mirrors, but I didnt have a problem with them.

Very nice winding out the gears after hitting 2nd gear. Hugs road nicely on turns. I disagree with the "take" that it is so hard to see out back, on the hard tops anyway. Shifts very quickly. Jumps from 65 to 120mph.

I bought my 05 Z as a CPO with 18k on it in October of 2009. 34k on it now. A windy mountain road will allow you to experience this cars full capabilities. (My wife doesnt tell me to get something practical anymore!) The styling can get you more attention than desired. Ever since I powder coated the wheels black, I get challenged to race every time I take it out. My Z had been trouble free until recently. The left rear wheel bearing went out ($250 fix covered by the CPO warranty) & a short in the dash gauge clusters mother board ($1,100 fix not covered). At such low mileage, even the dealer agreed this is unusual. But every car has its hiccups. Hopefully itll be a while before the next.

In my research for sport performance cars back in 2004 the 350Z came out to be my best option over the Mazda RX-8, Mustang GT, Chrysler Crossfire and Honda S2000. The V6 engine with 274 lb- ft of torque and 287 Hp offers around 22 to 23 average mpg which is great for a sport car. Plenty of torque and interior space over Honda S2000. Interior plastic trim tolerances far better over the Mustang GT 2004 model. Interior design is comfortable for adult drivers up to 6 ft tall. The touring model with automatic transmission and traction control is excellent for everyday driving and leverages shifting fun vs. ease of driving.

Wonderful all around vehicle. The 350 is extremely fun to drive with very predictable handling characteristics. A true sports car and a great value.
