Overview & Reviews
The '02 Lancer is Mitsubishi's replacement for its Mirage economy car, though the Mirage continues this year in coupe format only. The chief reason for the new name (for the U.S., as the car has always been called the Lancer elsewhere) is Mitsubishi's desire to emphasize that the Lancer is more upscale, larger and better-engineered than the old Mirage.
- Large interior, classy exterior styling, many standard features.
- O-Z model lacks performance to back up looks, side airbags and antilock brakes available only on LS trim, no available engine upgrade.

Excellent for its price! - 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer
By Ana Ben-David - August 5 - 4:20 pmHighly recommended. I bought my car when it had 35k miles on 04, today it has 93K miles and still drives perfectly. Regularly maintained, there are no problems at all. Definitely an excellent choice.

Headache-free Car - 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer
By donald72 - July 26 - 2:00 amThis car is very reliable. Its drive- and-go, worry-free. No breakdowns going almost 2 years now, factoring in reasonable maintenance. Power is not so good, wont make you grin on green lights. When it comes to uphill climbs its hearty torque shows, thats where it more than makes up for its inadequate horsepower. Ergo: slow on flat roads but nimble on uphill climbs. The car is rigidly built. Thats why it weighs around 400 lbs. more than your Corolla or Civic due to more metals used.

The Basic Fun Car - 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer
By Mike - May 31 - 4:03 amThe OZ-Rally package definitly spiced up the exterior look, and I was happy with all the accesories that it came with. I do wish it had a bit more power to it though. Everything has been fine on it so far though.

Overpriced and Uncomfortable - 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer
By bradpepsi - October 22 - 2:00 amThis has got to be the most uncomfortable car Ive ever driven. The driver is very cramped and the gas pedal is far too sensitive. The problem is you dont notice things like that on a test drive, its only when you go on a drive more than 30 minutes or so that you notice how uncomfortable it is. Performance is much better than the reviews for it indicate, but the gas mileage is pathetic for a car with a 115 HP 4 cylinder engine (about 23 mpg in the city). At $17,300 for the automatic version, Mitsubishi is out of their mind. Ive had mine for only two months and am already looking to get rid of it.
