The 2002 Galant features new exterior and interior design changes and other improvements to enhance safety and functionality. A new LS model with the four-cylinder engine offers a standard sunroof and upgraded sound system plus the option of leather trim. Mechanically, changes include larger front ventilated disc brakes (four-cylinder models), an additional remote keyless-entry trunk-opening function, an emergency inside-trunk lid release and available ABS on ES models. The exterior features updated front and rear styling, new 16-inch wheels (GTZ and LS V6) and two new colors. Inside, Mitsubishi has spruced things up with a new audio system faceplate, a rear dome light with the optional sunroof and a redesigned gauge cluster. New titanium- and bronze-finish (ES and LS) or carbon fiber-finish (GTZ) trim panels have also been added.

NOT BAD, NOT BAD AT ALL - 2002 Mitsubishi Galant
By Romanizer - July 28 - 10:00 amIf you are looking for a reliable car with a small price tag....this is it. I put about 110 miles per day on this car. Great fuel economy and solid ride. One down fall is rear seat room, small kids are fine, but the big kids will complain. I hav ethe 4 cyl. and it acts like it, i will not be winning any races but it does the job just fine. all in all a good car for the money, I will even recomend it to anyone.

Good Buy - 2002 Mitsubishi Galant
By Galant Owner - February 15 - 9:03 amI got my LS after its original lease ended and the car had 25K miles on it. Have been driving it for over 3 years now. Not a single problem with the car. What a difference from my previous Audi A4 which was breaking down every week. Like the interior - mine has leather seats, sunroof, side airbags, CD player. Back room is really for kids and not for adults. It is fun to drive and it easily goes 90-100 mph on highways - stable and solid run. Great car for the money. Not as refined as Maxima or Accord, but youd pay much more for those.

Terrible Resale Value; OK Car - 2002 Mitsubishi Galant
By Galant Owner - July 31 - 2:00 amWe had them throw in a spoiler and tinted windows for free when we bought it from the dealer. That helped the body style look more sporty. Passenger front door sounds hollow when you close it. Mitsubishi service dept said it cant be fixed. Sounds like a cheap tin can. Interior fabric is cheap. Car does handle well. The back seat is very cramped- no leg room. Low horsepower compared to other cars in its class. We want to sell this car six months after we bought it, but it lost so much value that we cant. We should have bought a Honda or Toyota because they hold their value.

By Happy Owner16 - November 21 - 10:00 amThis car is a good car to buy used we bought it with 41k for $7500 although it has been repaired in the past. A very good amount of standard features and very fun to drive. The back seat is cramped but as long as you scoot the seats up a little its fine. Very nice looking exterior and easy to use interior.

Most reliable car Ive ever owned - 2002 Mitsubishi Galant
By TW - September 18 - 4:16 pmYes I was one of "those" who bought this car brand new. Of course after two Fords and a Chevy, Id wanted to give the foreign market a try. Honda and Toyota were too expensive and the Galant turned out to be a great commuter car. 146K miles later and I must say its been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. No major work outside of schedule maintenance. Changed the oil every 5K. Id rate this car just as high as any Honda or Toyota from the same year. Are there things that could be better? Yeah usually there are, but Im very pleased with the Galant.

My son has been traveling back and forth from college with this car and its been a very reliable car NO PROBLEMS. We have had the car now 4 years and its hasnt cost a penny for maintenance other than normal oil changes and such.

I Love my Sporty Galant! - 2002 Mitsubishi Galant
By Meeksups - May 18 - 5:06 pmI got my 2002 red Mitsubishi Galant ES used for $9,999 with just under 15,000 miles on it back in 2003. I fell in love with the side profile and spoiler. This is my second car (my first was a 1990 Mazda MX-6). I would say most of these reviews are accurate. This is an excellent used car to buy. The only problem Ive encountered required a new front oxygen sensor. Otherwise its mechanically sound. Despite my inexperience with cars, I feel this car handles very well. The acceleration is pretty decent too. I cant wait to throw some moderately flashy 18" rims on it to make it really stand out. As far as the inside is concerned, yes the back seat is a little cramped, but its fine with me because Im the driver..hehe.

This Ones Tricky - 2002 Mitsubishi Galant
By AlmostGood - November 4 - 10:00 amI got a nice deal on a this car and walked out of the dealership without putting a dime down plus 2.9 percent for 6 years (thats like free money). The 0 down is misleading, b/c its a 36 month term and the payment can be really high (unless you put a significant down payment on it).
