The big news for the 2005 Mini Cooper is the arrival of the convertible in both regular and S flavors. Stylish as ever, the drop-top Mini seats four and still has a trunk big enough for a few bags. Other changes include slightly revised front and rear fascias and some reworked option choices. The vanity mirrors are no longer illuminated, a universal remote transmitter is now available and a leather-wrapped steering wheel is now standard. The S version gains 5 horsepower and 7 pound-feet of torque, as well as an external temperature display. Both the five- and six-speed manual transmissions feature shorter gearing this year to improve acceleration. A six-speed automatic transmission will become available on the S versions later in the model year.

• Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, some low-grade interior materials.

  Absolutely the most efficient and fun car to drive. It is safe and fuel economy the tops. The space inside the car is abundant. I dont feel intimidated by tractor trailers when I am driving. I usually dont like regular cars as I drive a GMC Safari in the winter and like to sit up high when I drive but the MINI is the perfect car for me. I do garage my car for the winter, but I see so many that I feel they do great in all types of wheather. I recommend it to every one.

  I love this car all around! This vehicle is fun to drive the style is like nothing Ive ever seen and I love the fact that I can be unique with my car. I dont know any other car that matches it.

  I am 6 feet tall and my Mini is very comfortable, fun to drive and I love all the features. The warranty is great.

  I drive a 2003 M3. Takes a lot to impress me when it comes to driving and handling in cars. After driving my M3 everything else is just transportation, until I drove a mini s convertible. What a great driving and handling little "pocket rocket" It handles like a BMW and has enough power to let you know it has it if you need it. It gives the impression of a lot more guts than the normal 3 series and while driving it doesnt feel small or restricted. I bought it for my wife but I must admit its a blast to drive!!!

  Generally, Ive been very happy with my Mini. Ive had one ABS sensor go bad and my power steering hose needed replacing for a leak. There are very occasional inexplicable computer problems, as well. Overall, performance and handling are very good, though the stock run-flats on a sport suspension and springs make for a rough ride. The interior is nice (I prefer the pre-2007 interior) but a little "plasticky"; would be nice if they offered JCW leather upgrade for more than just the dash and down tubes (e.g., the door panels).

  I bought the convertible with 9 miles on it. Its the basic convertibel but I had CVT (6 speed septronic auto)installed with the Premium package, after reading the manuals the car still surprises me with all the safety features that is has, as well as the Premium options. I normally drive a SUV, but this is my new toy,, and the funny thing is I think that I am the only one in my town that has one....
