Overview & Reviews
The big news for the 2005 Mini Cooper is the arrival of the convertible in both regular and S flavors. Stylish as ever, the drop-top Mini seats four and still has a trunk big enough for a few bags. Other changes include slightly revised front and rear fascias and some reworked option choices. The vanity mirrors are no longer illuminated, a universal remote transmitter is now available and a leather-wrapped steering wheel is now standard. The S version gains 5 horsepower and 7 pound-feet of torque, as well as an external temperature display. Both the five- and six-speed manual transmissions feature shorter gearing this year to improve acceleration. A six-speed automatic transmission will become available on the S versions later in the model year.
- Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, some low-grade interior materials.

Only one word to describe it... - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Byron Dondoyano - January 14 - 1:00 amOnly one word to describe it - FUN. I traded in my Nissan Frontier crew cab for this little bundle. Let me tell you, there is as much space in the interior as my old truck. Go figure. Enjoy it so much Im not so crazy about our 2nd car - a Lexus 330. Dont get me wrong, the Lexus has the most plush interior anywhere in the world. Other than that, it has "no soul" as one person put it.

More fun than a barrel full of monkeys! - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Paulo - September 28 - 5:43 amThe MINI Cooper S is truly a great car. Some much fun to drive. Im pretty tall- 61" and Im still very comfortable in the car. The leg room in the back seats isnt that great, but you can take people in relative comfort. One thing that I love is the sound it makes. I cant get over it- you just want to drive faster and faster!!! If you dont understand why this car is so great, just test drive one and youll understand. By the way, the MINI staff at Morristown MINI of NJ are great and you can tell they love what they sell.

More fun than... - 2005 Mini Cooper
By ROGER - September 26 - 4:06 amThis is the most fun Ive had driving since my 70 Pontiac Trans-am. My Mini has several after-market additions and is an absolute delight. You just want to get in and drive. And WOW, what a ride it is. Im a big guy and was put off by the size till I climbed in and drove the car. Its roomy, comfortable and offers excellent driver visibility. Mine has dual moon roofs and tinted glass all the way around--highly recommend that trick. The roadability is superb. Get the S- model with a 6-speed Getrag and youre in for a real thrill. This car wants to go 70 mph so youll want to watch the foot because 70 in this car is like 50 in another car. Go for it!!!

My Lil Mini Cooper "S" - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Angie Zemzicki - September 7 - 3:06 amThis is the car for adventurous folks. Not a family (not enough space for passengers in back seat). Great gas mileage, especially with todays prices at the pump. Handles like a fancy high priced sports car.

I like it - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Cool Blue - July 14 - 4:46 amThis car has replaced my motorcycle as my fun vehicle. While its small, at least I can take my wife and kids with me for a ride now. The retro/modern styling makes the car truly unique and the superchargers whine combined with the deep exhaust note are heavenly on your ears. Lots of customization options from the dealer and third parties.

High Quality Small Car - 2005 Mini Cooper
By jazz251 - June 11 - 9:06 amAfter years of looking at this car I finally got my wife to test drive it. Now I can not get her out of it! We bought a 2005 model that was sitting on the lot. It had only 10,000 miles and had most options. It is a base engine but the HP seems more than adequate for the traffic bound DC / N. VA area. Plus the gas mileage is great. For a small car it is very quiet. It is well built and fun to drive. I plan to keep this a long time and plan to pass it on to my son in about 5-6 years.

This Car Is Sooo Me! - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Malu - April 25 - 3:33 pmI love this car. I will own it forever! Even if I wanted to buy another car I am keeping this one until my hair turns grey! Love driving it. It always makes me and other people smile! I do hate the way the plastic on the interior scratches so easily but other than that I dont have any complaints, unless you count having to drive two cars to go shopping! Motor on dude!

Mini Mania - 2005 Mini Cooper
By conmike92 - February 5 - 9:46 amIts a great car...you do not need the S engine for extra power. The standard engine is great. CUTE, CUTE, CUTE (and fun!) car!!
