Overview & Reviews
For their second season in the U.S. market, the 2003 Mini Cooper and Cooper S will now come with a second remote key and pre-wiring for a dealer-installed alarm system. Anthracite (smoke gray, that is) interior trim is available as a no-cost option for both cars, and the Cooper S is eligible for the high-gloss silver interior treatment found in the base Cooper. Sound systems will be satellite radio-ready this year, and the rear cargo area now has a power point.
- The thrill of owning a piece of history with modern underpinnings, BMW-engineered suspension and steering, chock full of comfort and safety features, hatchback utility, scheduled maintenance on-the-house for 3 years/36,000 miles.
- Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, price goes up quickly with options, limited supply encourages dealer mark-up.

Why did I even bother with this car? - 2003 Mini Cooper
By Jasen G - February 2 - 2:00 amIt was a nice car at first, but then everything started to go wrong. In ten months Ive spent $2000 in repairs (half of which should have been covered under warranty), and Im about to spend more to fix the faulty brakes. The car eats through tires, the oem windshield is too thin and fragile, and the brakes have never been properly functional, and all the problems the car has, isnt covered by any warranty...

You will not regret this purchase! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By jujuzulu - January 20 - 8:20 amThis car has been incredible! It is enjoyable, gets great gas mileage and I bought mine back when everyone stopped me to see "What in the heck is that?" youre driving. (Fun, at first but ultimately a bit cumbersome! Although once I started talking about it, couldnt stop smiling!). The run flats have been a nice asset, as that has been my only problem in 5 years of ownership---2 flat tires! Motor on, MINI!

No way, no how! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By baker831 - December 20 - 12:10 pmMy Mini has been nothing but trouble, I have had to replace the brakes twice and have stored it for 2 winters and owned it less than 2 yrs. The drivers door went from only opening from the outside to not opening at all. Now the power steering is messed up. The closest dealer is 3 hrs away and no one else will touch it, plus it is expensive to fix. The cup holder is extremely inconvenient, w/ being such a small car they really should move it. When it is working it is fun to drive but Im afraid to go too far. The heated seats are nice but the drivers gets hot, like burn you hot. Not worth the trouble, money or time. Sure it looks cute but icarumba

Mini Cooper S (chip-tuned) 200 Hp - 2003 Mini Cooper
By Ferdinand Hinloopen - December 17 - 10:00 amDear readers, Recently I bought myzelf a Mini Cooper S. The power was ok but I chip-tuned the Mini in the Netherlands by Braspenning. Now I have got 207 HP and 255 Torque (at 3500). The car is absolutely fabilous. The sound, the fun to drive and acceleration is really big fun. Driving at 100 Kph (60 mph) in third gear and than: step on the gas! Wooo, you will be launched! than go to 4 and 5th gear, look at the speed (above 200 kmh!) This is now a BMW/Mercedes/Audi beater. fun, fun and fun. Wonderful car! A wanahave.

The Best Hatchback Available - 2003 Mini Cooper
By Alejandro - November 26 - 10:00 amI can sum up my mini cooper S with three phrases, Fun, Quality and Good Value. BMW did not hold back from giving the mini the technology and design it does for its big boys (700 series) This car is fun to drive everyday. I never imagined thought that I would get so much attention from other folks. Hence the styling success. For the first 6 months of ownership I would at least 1 person if not 3 people stop me to chat about my mini cooper S. I look forward to many years of motoring pleasure.

Fun to Drive - Not to Own - 2003 Mini Cooper
By LCraddock - November 15 - 2:00 amI loved the look and feel of the CooperS and was pleased with overall performance and handling. Some minor issues with rattles, steering column issues and basic warranty work have taken an inordinate amount of service time. Dealership seems to treat Mini owners as second class citizens - I had to throw a fit to get a loaner car when it was warranty work! Overall service has been poor. Mini has been in shop over 6 weeks in one year. Also look out for tire wear and expense of replacement.

HOW SWEET IT IS!! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By Rob-Rob - November 4 - 10:00 amPicked up my Cooper S in April 03 & have never been happier with a car before. If you love to drive, et is purely a "DRIVERS" car. If you are a real driver then you will truly love this vehicle.
