Overview & Reviews
For their second season in the U.S. market, the 2003 Mini Cooper and Cooper S will now come with a second remote key and pre-wiring for a dealer-installed alarm system. Anthracite (smoke gray, that is) interior trim is available as a no-cost option for both cars, and the Cooper S is eligible for the high-gloss silver interior treatment found in the base Cooper. Sound systems will be satellite radio-ready this year, and the rear cargo area now has a power point.
- The thrill of owning a piece of history with modern underpinnings, BMW-engineered suspension and steering, chock full of comfort and safety features, hatchback utility, scheduled maintenance on-the-house for 3 years/36,000 miles.
- Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, price goes up quickly with options, limited supply encourages dealer mark-up.

A wonderful car - 2003 Mini Cooper
By fstecker - September 2 - 10:00 amI bought my Mini as a retirement present and have been surprised by the quality and the performance of the Mini S. Drawbacks are seating for older legs and a rear view mirror that is sculpted to match the outside rear view mirrors but limited in reasonable use. The auto is a great buy and Id recommend it to anyone who likes percise engineering.

Bang for the buck indeed - 2003 Mini Cooper
By ChiliMini - September 2 - 10:00 amI have put 5000 minles on my MINI in 3 months without a glitch, and all of the fun factor of coars costing twice as much, and eyecatching crowd gathering exposure that a Ferarri would get for under 20k. Worth the wait of 3 months, and DO get the Harmon Kardon stereo upgrade, it is concert hall quality for the $550 it costs. Lie this baby into any corner and it sticks like crazy glue, loves revs, and 0 to 6 in 8.9 is fast enough for most of us. I am getting close to 40MPG at 65 on the highway. GTIs, and all the rest, eat my fun factor!!!

Awesome fun!!!!!! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By ssimms - July 30 - 10:00 amMy car has been literally trouble free and with the mileage, I can only say that I obviously love it. 38-40 MPG on a 75mile round trip each day (mostly highway). Still, I have never seen less that 34.5 MPG on a tank of gas since new. I wasnt expectin this. In addition to being the most fun thing I have ever owned, it is economical and I love autocrossing it as well.

Mini Magic - 2003 Mini Cooper
By baydenz - July 16 - 10:00 amI got my Mini for my sixteenth birthday after my parents did extensive research to find me a safe, reliable and fun automobile...with safety being the main consideration. Steel reinforced doors, six airbags, remarkable stability and maneuverability made the Mini the hands down choice. I couldnt imagine ever driving another car!

Ill Motor Again! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By Mannix - July 5 - 3:13 amI saw my first "new" Mini sometime in late summer of 02, and was smitten! My 03 S is Indigo Blue and has the sport package, the factory tint is sooo dark. The HK stereo system rocks and this little rocket still holds all of my drums! But, the seat hugs me every day, and I actually look forward to my commutes home! Theres this particular merging ramp where I live, and I make it a point to plan my route just so I can take this banked, curvy stretch going fast.

You couldnt give me any other car... - 2003 Mini Cooper
By bumpka - April 16 - 10:00 amThis car is amazing. It has everything you could want. I have owned my Cooper CVT for about a year now and no problems here, just smiles. There are only 2 reasons I had to go back to the dealer: 1) state inspection 2) a black trim piece around the wheel well was coming up and was replaced under warranty. This car is a blast to drive- -good acceleration and sometimes I dont even notice that I need to slow down of curves.

Perfect 2003 Cooper S - 2003 Mini Cooper
By minihune - April 16 - 10:00 amExcellent 2003 model- minimal problems. Car drives perfectly-very smooth. 17"Runflat tires bumpy except on smoothest roads. 16" wheels give better overall ride/lighter weight. Sunroof excellent. Harmon Kardon audio upgrade very good option. Very reliable. Excellent build quality.

Definitely a Toy! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By bkrum - April 3 - 2:00 amId rather drive my Mini when Im alone or I have to shift to a lower gear when I have more weight in the car. Otherwise, no problem with the pep. Very stable on the highway, even when passing large trucks. After 6000 miles, Im getting 30.5 mpg--mostly city driving with only about 80 miles of highway driving per tank. Biggest problem is that it sits so low to the ground, its hard to find automatic car washes with rails that are low enough. My Mini was meant to be driven CLEAN, especially since I opted for the white wheels. Living in the cold north makes this difficult!

Lovin it! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By gaulfing - April 3 - 2:00 amSo many car models exist to choose from; I have owned quite a few! Yet I have never before had a car that is so complete in its personality. It is a truly unique motoring experience. Yes it is small, so back seat riders arent going to be so comfortable on a cross-country and I need to borrow my wifes minivan to bring home drywall from the home center. But that small size makes for an intimate driving experience, fantasticly nimble handling, and great fuel economy. Its a delightful combination!

Beatin it hard and loving it! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By mattrichter - March 15 - 2:00 amIve had the car for about 6 months and already have 12000 miles on it. Every one was fun. I live in the hills above the Bay Area (near Skyline Blvd, for thos that know the area) and every day I drive up and down the hills and really love it! Motorcycles have to lean about 50 degrees to keep up with me. They can go faster, but really have to work it to do so. The car is great. There will be lots of "quirky" cars coming out (like the Honda Element) that are very practical. This is one that is more fun that almost anything Ive ever driven, and much less expensive for the quality, features and performance.
