Overview & Reviews
For their second season in the U.S. market, the 2003 Mini Cooper and Cooper S will now come with a second remote key and pre-wiring for a dealer-installed alarm system. Anthracite (smoke gray, that is) interior trim is available as a no-cost option for both cars, and the Cooper S is eligible for the high-gloss silver interior treatment found in the base Cooper. Sound systems will be satellite radio-ready this year, and the rear cargo area now has a power point.
- The thrill of owning a piece of history with modern underpinnings, BMW-engineered suspension and steering, chock full of comfort and safety features, hatchback utility, scheduled maintenance on-the-house for 3 years/36,000 miles.
- Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, price goes up quickly with options, limited supply encourages dealer mark-up.

Too much fun - 2003 Mini Cooper
By SleepeeK - November 9 - 10:00 am1st new car, 1st stick--fabulous experience! The S is quite easy for novice manual-drivers (though refinement of technique will absolutely yield increasing excitement). Fit n finish is wonderful, Ive heard not a rattle nor had a leak since purchase. 4.5 months old, 8700+ miles so far I couldnt be happier. MINIUSA still has some issues to work out (windscreen fractures and software performance, in my experience) but lets keep in mind that its only in its 2nd full production year--these are to be expected.

03 MINI S - 2003 Mini Cooper
By moorlockx - November 3 - 10:00 amA fantasticly fun way to get around. Unique styling, coupled with good performance and handling, and modern aesthetics, makes this one of the best overall cars Ive driven in my 33 years on the road. Its a car equally at home in town or on the open road. It excells on curvey, back roads. If oyure looking for quick 0 to 60 times, look elsewhere, but for everything else, theres the MINI.

Motoring is Fun! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By Nanner - October 28 - 2:00 amAs a person who formerly used her vehicles merely to get from Point A to Point B, my driving inclinations in the year I have had my MINI have changed dramatically. Its FUN to get in the car and zip around town on errands, or on the highway to other cities. Will anyone mistake me for Charlize Theron? I dont think so, but I can pretend!

What a BLAST - 2003 Mini Cooper
By am1scott - October 28 - 2:00 amThis car is a blast to drive, period! I have driven a very wide variety of vehicles over the year and in terms of pure fun-to-drive, this car is off the map. Sure, its got some quirks. It is, after all a joint German/British venture so thats to be expected. But never before have the positives so far outweighed the negatives, at least in my mind.

fun, fun , fun! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By sergio - October 14 - 10:00 amI bought an "S" model loaded for just $20,900, tax free. Great looks, draws lots of attention. Interior design is gorgeous, fit and finisf are great, but some plastics look too cheap. Engine is weak in the low range, but once you pass 4000rpms, then you get all the power. It reminds me of my Civic VTEC. ( and this is weird for a supercharged engine, though). Anyways, the car drives like a go-kart, and that is the main reason why I bought it. Ride is harsh, but not as I expected. Got it in silver with a black top. This will be in the future my second car. Im already saving for a 350Z.

1 Month Review - 2003 Mini Cooper
By Indygo - October 3 - 2:00 amI had studied the car for almost a year before getting it. Ive now had mine for a month. Most of the production kinks have been worked out, and the car is something else. Its real fun to drive, an eyecatcher, and very comfortable. The dual sunroof feature makes the car extra roomie inside, while the on steering radio controls let you enjoy driving the car.

Bump Up The Style Points - 2003 Mini Cooper
By dysfunct9 - September 27 - 10:00 amWhen I drove to work (an elementary school) the first day I bought Earnest (my Mini), one of the other teachers looked at me and said, "You, Mr. Abney, are hopelessy trendy." Smiling, I said, "Thanks!" I traded in an Audi TT Convertible for this car and, though reducing a whole lot of monthly payment, Ive actually increased my coolness factor driving around. And, considering it has one of the lowest True Cost To Owns on Edmunds, I think its an amazing value, even though I ended up paying 1500 over MSRP.

MINI Cooper S - 2003 Mini Cooper
By enzo_27 - September 9 - 2:00 amThis is a wonderful car. It is an absolute blast. It is truly the re- birth of one of the great iconic cars of all time. It has so much more character and personality than most cars on the market. I have had people honk their horns, wave like maniacs and give the thumbs up in traffic. It is hands-down the best car I have ever owned.
