Overview & Reviews
The big news for the 2005 Mini Cooper is the arrival of the convertible in both regular and S flavors. Stylish as ever, the drop-top Mini seats four and still has a trunk big enough for a few bags. Other changes include slightly revised front and rear fascias and some reworked option choices. The vanity mirrors are no longer illuminated, a universal remote transmitter is now available and a leather-wrapped steering wheel is now standard. The S version gains 5 horsepower and 7 pound-feet of torque, as well as an external temperature display. Both the five- and six-speed manual transmissions feature shorter gearing this year to improve acceleration. A six-speed automatic transmission will become available on the S versions later in the model year.
- Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, some low-grade interior materials.

MINI Luv - 2005 Mini Cooper
By cynmo - October 15 - 7:40 pmThe MINI handles like a dream. I have driven in icy, snowy, rainy conditions with absolutely NO problems or complaints. It has excellent get-up-and-go (I own a Cooper S.) My 62" passenger travels in complete comfort with PLENTY of legroom and headroom (in the front seat.) I love it, love it, love it!

Interior bug dont bug me too much - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Jim - September 9 - 6:26 pmI cant say enough about the tight handling in this car. It sticks like glue to the road no matter how hard I push it Its a feeling of confidence that the car will do what I ask of it. Yes it is plagued with multiple interior bugs but you cant have it all all the time.

2005 Mini S - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Mini S - September 9 - 10:00 amLet me first say that I love my Mini. I have never had another car that I felt this way about. I love the feel of it, the size, the leather interior, the ability to get an entire shopping cart in the back. It is fun to drive and has the power I want to get around. I have had some major mechanical problems: rear main seal replaced at 34K and now lost a valve at 39K. Seems problems that shouldnt come up at the mileage.

Mini Car Maxi Fun - 2005 Mini Cooper
By SPT - August 1 - 7:43 pmOne of the best cars I have owned. Perfect for a city ... easy to park. Three issues: 1) Needs decent back bumper 2) poor visibility with top up and down 3) rough ride. This IS a sportscar not a sedan.

Red Mini - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Jack Nesbitt - July 14 - 8:36 pmComing up on 10,000 miles. No major problems of any type. Rides hard as one would expect. Small noise in dashboard when on bad LA freeways. Gets great mileage. Averaging 31.7 mpg in LA combined highway and city.

I am going to miss my MINI !!!! - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Happy MiniOwner - July 7 - 7:16 pmIve had my MINI since it was a pup, straight from its mother teat! But after 4 years, its time to get an automatic since the wife cant drive a stick. This has been one of my favorite cars I have owned, being in my forties, thats been a lot. It is a blast to drive. I agree the seats could be a little more comfortable, but theyre not that bad. The cup holder situation is bad, very bad. Mechanically, I have only had an O2 sensor fail. and those ridiculously expensive tires were replaced too early with normal high performance tires (it is also a weird size had to special order them). The passenger seat has stopped reclining. I will miss waving at other MINI owners and being in the family.

MINI COOPER S convertible - 2005 Mini Cooper
By jan - June 22 - 5:10 pmMy mini cooper s has been the most fun to drive of all my cars. I had a 328I BMW and loved it. This little car is better. It hugs the road, corners on a dime and likes to go bery fast. I love the concept of sun roof and convertible in one car. You can always ride with the top down.

Love hate relationship - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Loosenut - May 31 - 9:36 amThe car is so much fun to drive its addictive. It corners smoothly and accelerates well. The front seats arent the most comfortable but are very adjustable. The biggest problem I have had is with the new gas containing ethanol. Seems the gas companies add more than the 10% they say they do and the Mini runs lousy because of it. At least that is what the dealer says. Oh yeah, and now the CD player died.

Boxster Killer - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Da-Works - May 14 - 1:53 pmI purchased my Pepper White John Cooper Works MINI S last May and Ive had a permagrin ever sense. The performance is almost scary and surprising to many who try to follow me on a back road. If youre thinking of buying a MINI, do it. Its more than just another sports car. The build quality is excellent and, so far, the reliability has been great. I bought my car with several features that the autocrosser would think of ordering. Full sunroof, upgraded seats and auto ac/heat, as well as auto headlights dimming rear view mirror, etc. Overall the added features make the car a great cruiser and weekend get-away car.

Minis - the new sexy car - 2005 Mini Cooper
By jomomocomo - May 1 - 3:13 amHad my Mini S convertible for 4 months now, I love it as much today as the first day I got it.Looks sexy, feels sexy, its the new "it" car.People stop me all the time to ask about the mini, I get people chatting to me while I am driving, people honk, point, smile, stare. When its parked at the store people look inside, walk around it check it out; if the top is up they peer in the window, (I am forever cleaning nose marks off).My advice to you if you are thinking about buying one, run, dont walk to the dealership and order it ASAP, you already might be too late for the 2005s, they are hot, hot, hot.I love my mini!
