This Year's Model Updates:

For their second season in the U.S. market, the 2003 Mini Cooper and Cooper S will now come with a second remote key and pre-wiring for a dealer-installed alarm system. Anthracite (smoke gray, that is) interior trim is available as a no-cost option for both cars, and the Cooper S is eligible for the high-gloss silver interior treatment found in the base Cooper. Sound systems will be satellite radio-ready this year, and the rear cargo area now has a power point.

Pros:
  • The thrill of owning a piece of history with modern underpinnings, BMW-engineered suspension and steering, chock full of comfort and safety features, hatchback utility, scheduled maintenance on-the-house for 3 years/36,000 miles.
Cons:
  • Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, price goes up quickly with options, limited supply encourages dealer mark-up.

Wait a few generations for them to work out all the bugs. There are a lot of them.

This is 7th car Ive driven off the showroom floor, and no prior purchase comes close to my MINI. On Edmunds recommendation, I chose the Cooper over the Cooper S. I find her to be zippy and powerful enough to enjoy anywhere. Fun to drive is an understatement. I think of places I need to go just as I did 35 years ago when I had a brand new license! She feels like a sports car, and fits anywhere!

I drive a 2003 Mini Cooper and it is the greatest. Mine is Yellow with a white bonnet and I absolutely love my car. It gets great gas mileage because my drive to school in the morning is 16 miles so it does great on gas. I would recommend this car to anyone. Its very safe and fun to drive and everyone at my high school LOVES IT!

This car is an amazingly fun car to drive. My ONLY complaint is that the rear hatch gets dirty faily quickly so I have to clean it about once every week. This is the perfect car for someone seeking a decently quick car that will get you noticed.

This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. The handeling and performance went far and beyond my expectations. This little economy car runs like igh performance roadster Fuel economy is the best. I can travel to FL and back from IN on a hundred bucks or less. And the pick up is there for passing and moving out quick. Not to mention the speed this little mini meanie can cruise at without reving the RPMs. Coolest thing since sliced bread. Its definately a head turner and seems to be the topic of conversation when I pull into gas stations and parking lots. Its a $17,000 car that drives like a 50,000 sports machine. Even better its made by BMW. Cant say enough about it.

I have driven a lot of different cars in my life time, and have never been so impressed. BMW could make the MSRP $10,000 more and this little car would still be a great deal! There is not a car on the market right now that does not even comes close to the MINI!

After 8 months of reviewing and reading I purchased my Pure Silve MINI and it has been a true joy to drive. The only problem, so far, is that I cant get the interior lights to work when the door opens. Also it is a hassle to drive 100 round trip to the dealership for a fix.It is the first new car for me in 18 years and I plan to drive it for the next 8. It has put the fun back in driving again.I paid $24,368.00 for mine which has a grand added on for Lo JAck.Thats ok, except the police out here are equiped for Lo Jack. Also it would be nice to barter a bit, I couldnt with a line up waiting to buy the same MINI that I did!BEEP!!BEEP!!!
