Overview & Reviews
The big news for the 2005 Mini Cooper is the arrival of the convertible in both regular and S flavors. Stylish as ever, the drop-top Mini seats four and still has a trunk big enough for a few bags. Other changes include slightly revised front and rear fascias and some reworked option choices. The vanity mirrors are no longer illuminated, a universal remote transmitter is now available and a leather-wrapped steering wheel is now standard. The S version gains 5 horsepower and 7 pound-feet of torque, as well as an external temperature display. Both the five- and six-speed manual transmissions feature shorter gearing this year to improve acceleration. A six-speed automatic transmission will become available on the S versions later in the model year.
- Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, some low-grade interior materials.

Awesome Cooper - 2005 Mini Cooper
By R - March 10 - 8:00 amEarlier model years may have gotten a bad rap on quality of build. However the 2005 model is flawless. Fun to drive, great gas mileage, and roomier than youd think.

Best Litle Car I have Ever Seen - 2005 Mini Cooper
By nick - February 13 - 12:36 pmIve had my MINI Cooper for 9 months and it the best car I have ever driven. I always get looks, get stoped, and get compliments on it. People are always asking "Where did you get it and how much it cost?" When I tell them, I can see that I have made a new Mini owner.

Best car ever owned - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Fuzzyvaldez - January 18 - 10:53 amWow! This is a great car with everything you could want. Ive never had any problems with this car and would recommend it to everyone I know. This car has been taken on 1k mile drives and is my daily driver and has never failed me. My only issue is that people didnt order the amenities they really wanted. Please dont complain the car would be better if it had items you didnt order. Ive seen this car marked down on the fact it didnt have a sunroof (maybe one should have ordered one) and MPG come on people really, its a sportscar with a supercharger not a hybrid 50hp family wagon. So love this car for what it is and not hate it for what you wish you would have ordered.

MINI Cooper S - 2005 Mini Cooper
By Jim - January 4 - 1:13 amAfter 18000 miles, there is little I would change about the MINI Cooper S. Performance is excellent in all aspects and the MCS is a blast to drive. You cant help but have a broad smile after a drive. Overall mileage rarely drops under 30 mpg. One weak point is tire wear. The front tires of my first set of Dunlop all weathers was ready for replacement at 16000 miles. With the standard suspension, the ride is firm but not jarring. Controls, though uniquely placed, are easy to learn and sensible. Of some fifty cars Ive owned, the MCS sits at the top of my fun to drive list!
