This Year's Model Updates:

The big news for the 2005 Mini Cooper is the arrival of the convertible in both regular and S flavors. Stylish as ever, the drop-top Mini seats four and still has a trunk big enough for a few bags. Other changes include slightly revised front and rear fascias and some reworked option choices. The vanity mirrors are no longer illuminated, a universal remote transmitter is now available and a leather-wrapped steering wheel is now standard. The S version gains 5 horsepower and 7 pound-feet of torque, as well as an external temperature display. Both the five- and six-speed manual transmissions feature shorter gearing this year to improve acceleration. A six-speed automatic transmission will become available on the S versions later in the model year.

Pros:
Cons:
  • Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, some low-grade interior materials.

The Mini Cooper-S is a well made, quality car, with sufficient power, and is a lot of fun to drive. I have driven vehicles from a minivan to a CLK500, but this little car tops them all because of the fun factor. You drive it once, and youre hooked.

Awesome vehicle. Took me many years to find a vehicle to replace my Mercedes 450SL.

Great on the inside, and on the outside. You are ensured to turn heads! Every detail is fun, the "S" has the "zoom, zoom" that the regular version lacks. It is well worth the extra money

For both driving spirited and casually, the MINI Cooper S is an awesome car. For a young single male, it has enough space for anything I need and enough room for three of my friends. It is peppy and fun to drive. I have never had a problem with it, knock on wood. This a rare compliment for cars nowadays, which are often over shadowed by complaints. This is the best small car out there!

My Mini Cooper is a blast to drive! It handles great in the snow;much better then the Mustang I drove last winter. I will always buy a Mini. A Fantastic car for the money.

This car is a crowd stopper! Anywhere you go, people are in awe over it. It is great now that I pass by the pumps when everyone is in line for $3 gas.

This is my third Mini - drove two in Europe - I just love, my clients love it, and even my very tall friends are comfortable and get a kick out of it. I will NEVER change brands. There are a few problems, but all are curable. Ive driven lots of different brands since I began to drive in 1956 and the MINI is #1

  • I Love My MINI - 2005 Mini Cooper

I have driven My MINI Cooper S Convertible 16,500 miles in four months. It is hard to imagine anything more fun that you can do with your clothes on! I had one minor problem with the heater, but the dealership fixed it without any hassle. Other than that the car has been a dream It handles like the go cart is constantly compared to, and has plenty of get up and go with the extra horse power and new gearing in the 2005 model.

  • Enjoyable - 2005 Mini Cooper

I am really enjoying the car. My other car is a 1971 Porsch 914-4. Both cars are excellant. But the MINI Cooper of course is techincally superior. After all, there should be advances in 34 years of motoring. But the Porsche is still fun to drive, however the MINI actually handles better. Both have 1.6 liter engines. The engine response with the MINI is quicker and you can really control the MINI on a mountain road. You drive has hard and as fast as you, the driver can handle!
