This Year's Model Updates:

For their second season in the U.S. market, the 2003 Mini Cooper and Cooper S will now come with a second remote key and pre-wiring for a dealer-installed alarm system. Anthracite (smoke gray, that is) interior trim is available as a no-cost option for both cars, and the Cooper S is eligible for the high-gloss silver interior treatment found in the base Cooper. Sound systems will be satellite radio-ready this year, and the rear cargo area now has a power point.

Pros:
  • The thrill of owning a piece of history with modern underpinnings, BMW-engineered suspension and steering, chock full of comfort and safety features, hatchback utility, scheduled maintenance on-the-house for 3 years/36,000 miles.
Cons:
  • Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, price goes up quickly with options, limited supply encourages dealer mark-up.

  • Best Car Ever!!!! - 2003 Mini Cooper

I have driven a lot of different cars in my life time, and have never been so impressed. BMW could make the MSRP $10,000 more and this little car would still be a great deal! There is not a car on the market right now that does not even comes close to the MINI!

After 8 months of reviewing and reading I purchased my Pure Silve MINI and it has been a true joy to drive. The only problem, so far, is that I cant get the interior lights to work when the door opens. Also it is a hassle to drive 100 round trip to the dealership for a fix.It is the first new car for me in 18 years and I plan to drive it for the next 8. It has put the fun back in driving again.I paid $24,368.00 for mine which has a grand added on for Lo JAck.Thats ok, except the police out here are equiped for Lo Jack. Also it would be nice to barter a bit, I couldnt with a line up waiting to buy the same MINI that I did!BEEP!!BEEP!!!

If you want a quick responsive car this is it! They say it "drives like a Go- cart" and they are exactly right....

  • Even Better Than Advertised - 2003 Mini Cooper

Looking for performance and a car thats fun to drive, I originally looked at Porsches Boxter...great car, but overpriced, given the competition and speed laws in the U.S. Next stop, Mini-Coopers S Model. All the fun, acceleration and corner- hugging thrills of the Boxter at half the price...plus, theres more attitude and whimsy with the Mini that Porsches upper-brackets simply cant offer. In sum, an excellent drivers car that never fails to excite or bring a smile to your face. Theyre worth the wait.

  • Better than the tester - 2003 Mini Cooper

Put some rock and roll in the CD player and let this little rocket get its legs. In the fun per $ competition I dont see how you can beat this car. At the right engine speeds the acceleration is excellent and then handling is amazing. I went with the 16 inch wheels for a smoother ride and Im pretty happy with the choice. The tires are sticky and Im sure I lose a lttle in the corners to the 17 inchers but it cant be that much to justify the loss in ride quality. And the ride is better than I thought it would be based on how this cars suspension is set up. What a hoot!

  • mini-cooper - fun with quality - 2003 Mini Cooper

Foget the rumbling about quality. My 2003 has no quality problems at 4,000 miles. Great handling in a fun and great looking package. The quality issues must be with the 2002 first year vehicles. The Mini Houston, Texas dealer has a mini race track out back. After an awesome ride on the track in both dry and wet conditions, I bought the car. Nuff said.

  • Dont judge the MINI by its size! - 2003 Mini Cooper

The MINI has given me pleasure since I purchased the car. From the looks people give, to the things people say when I get into my MINI I still love it! I would not trade it in for any other car at this time. Each time I get into my car I smile because I know it will be another great experience. I get great mileage, free car washes, and dont judge a car by it size! I love the flip down seats- they give you much more space. My MINI has transported a Lazy Boy recliner, TVs, multiple dogs, five people, a bike and golf clubs! I love my heated seats in the cold winters. The MINI heats up and cools down quickly because the inside is smaller to cool and heat. I love my Mini!

  • Mini Cooper is more than I expected! - 2003 Mini Cooper

After carefully considering buying this new model car I took a chance. Ive been driving it religously for three weeks and absolutley love it and fall in love with it more and more. Not only do I feel special since not many people own one, but driving it is the best part of my day. The performance is awesome on this car. I takes off nicely and is a solid and great handling vehicle. i must admit that I am nervous about the future of this car but right now I am just enjoying every minute. BMW mini is wonderful!

  • Wait, and youll regret it...... - 2003 Mini Cooper

I sold a 1996 M3 to buy my Dark Silver Mini Cooper S. OH MY GOD,,,,this car, driven the right way, will hang with an M3. The comment I make over and over again is, "this car is about impossible to unsettle!" I live close to the mountains of NC and love finding an excuse to rip through the twisties. Get ready for the comstant questions from onlookers and the provocations from Mustangs, Vettes, etc. No worries though, the Cooper S holds its own. If you live in the south, be prepared to tick off some rednecks in there Mustangs with horrific handling,,I speak from experience. Dont wait buy one now, youll be glad you did.
