This Year's Model Updates:

Both 2004 Mini Cooper trims offer a new three-spoke leather sport steering wheel. A rear power socket returns as a standard item, and beige leather sport seats are now available. A digital speedometer readout has been added to the electronic display, and an instantaneous fuel-consumption function has been added to its on-board computer.

Pros:
Cons:
  • Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, some low-grade interior materials.

  • awesome car...too small w/ baby - 2004 Mini Cooper

The Mini Cooper is a blast to drive, the handling is incredible and people check you out everywhere you go. Total strangers come up to you all the time to ask about it. It looks great and I never had a single problem with it. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it is not suitable for a new baby, we had to sell mine when we had our baby in november, it was tough getting the carseat in and out and the passenger seat has to be pushed all the way forward to fit the carseat...leaving no room for a passenger to sit comfortably. Until we had our baby it was the perfect car and I highly recommend it.

We love our Mini. We have two other vehicles in the household (both Lexus), and we "fight" over who gets to drive the Mini every day! It is quick on its feet and sure- footed. What a fun car to drive, yet it handles very securely. Each time we drive it, people stare and ask us how we like the car. Now that the convertible is coming out, who knows, we may just have to have one of those too.

I have no complaints. I love everything about it. My gas milage is not quite what was stated. Driving around Honolulu, I average about 20 MPH.

This is a fun car to drive. People see me on the road and smile. It is extremely stable and handles well. Because it is a "driving machine" the ride is a bit rough. The main problem I have had is that it shifts quite roughly. Sometimes I have to try many times to get into reverse. I have asked the dealer about this and have been told I do not know what I am talking about. The rubber gasket around the top of the windshield has come apart three times now. The cruise control is not very good. When I set the cruise control, it lunges and usually slows down a few mph from where I set it.

  • Try the CVT automatic model - 2004 Mini Cooper

Try the CVT model. You can drive in automatic, sport drive, or shift manually. This is a great vehicle. Go test drive one and see for yourself. It is more spacious on the inside than it looks. We put dogs, luggage, 2 adults---and were off! FUN to drive, and you get lots of questions.

I have wanted a Mini Cooper S since I was in high school, but of course then I couldnt afford one and when I could they had stopped making them. So many years on BMW start making them again, off I trot to the dealership. The salesman (21 year old I guess) said "youll have to wait for an S maybe a year!" I said I have been waiting 35 years for this car I can wait a year to get exactly what I want. Now I LOVE to drive my Mini,(electric blue with black trim and blue and black leather seats). I take detours to go around rotaries sometimes twice if theres not too much traffic! I love the sunroof, almost as good as a contertible.

  • CUTE CAR...HEADS WILL TURN - 2004 Mini Cooper
    By -

I love this car! Its so cute, unique, and fun to drive. It can be a little jerky at times because its very sensitive to the touch (in terms of steering, accelerating and braking) but once you get the hang of it its amazing. Really zippy-- it hard not to speed in it!! Its also extremely fuel efficient and comfy inside. However, the back seats only suit small children because there is not a lot of leg room.
